Re: Leviticus
He would have told Leviticus that anger begets anger and that forgiveness is a better form of law than breaking the law of killing.
quote:
Leviticus 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

Re: Leviticus
no problem.
does an argument need to be made here, or does it sufficient demonstrate the complexity of leviticus and its place in the torah?

Re: Leviticus
I cannot speak to the Torah. All writers of wisdom are complex.

Re: Leviticus
Jesus came to establish a better law than what was in place.
where does it say he came to do this, he said he came to fulfill the law, which to me doesn't sound like hes making new laws, but something else
He would have told Leviticus that anger begets anger and that forgiveness is a better form of law than breaking the law of killing.
as spidey pointed out, the love thing is in the OT, and its also in the talmud, its not really an original concept
It appears that Leviticus was on a power trip when writing some of those laws that clearly show that they are not in any way Christian.
what in the world are you talking about? leviticus is not a person its the name of a book of the torah, written by levite priests nearly 1900 years ago. christianity latched on to the books to validate their text, the laws in leviticus have been around far longer than christianity has, whether they are christian or not is irrelevent anyway
God is a God of Love not Hate.
i would highly debate this

God is a God of Love not Hate.
How come he created so many evil, disfiguring diseases, huh?

Keep to the Topic
To all current participants.
This discussion concerns why people follow some laws in the Bible, but not others. See Message 1.
Why do many people feel it's ok to cherry pick the laws they like from the bible, yet ignore others. Do they know which laws god is still enforcing? ...
I think we can start with the Leviticus laws and discuss why people think it's ok to follow some, but not others.
If you are going to revive this discussion, please stick to the topic.
