My son attends a Methodist church in Jackson, TN that is somewhat racially mixed.
That's encouraging. I've probably been to 15 or 20 churches in the area, and I don't see this much. I attended a men's conference at a big Baptist church in Jackson, and there were blacks there, too, but surely less than 5%. They did invite some singers and a piano player from an all black church to conduct the worship time, but as far as I could tell, they didn't stay for the conference.
Today is the 1st Martin Luther King day parade in Selmer. We'll see how that goes and whether business drops off because of our participation. (Assuming it happens, the weather's supposed to be awful this evening.)
