what we need is true daylight savings. Huge machines that collect the suns heat and light during the long hot summers and then spit it back out in the dark cold winters. ENOUGH DISCRIMINATION I say! Equality of length for all days !

Getting rid of DST seems very unlikely, and reducing it also seems unlikely since it has just recently been expanded, but perhaps we can hope that they keep extending DST until there's no regular time left. DST all year round would be just as good as regular time all year round.
We can only hope. If we go to the extended there will only be 4 months of regular time.
They had such lame reasons for wanting Central Indiana on DST. Of course it really zapped the drive in movies and now we have to stay up a lot later to see fireworks.
I will continue to complain until they extend themselves into a new "regular time" or I'm too senile to remember what time it is anyway.

Purple
This thread explain a lot.
Both purpledawn and PurpleTeddyBear are from Indiana. After reading this thread, I now realize it is because Indiana folk are just purple with rage over daylight savings time

Not really. But then, I don't like time zones, either; time should be based on actual sun time. Heh.

Kings were put to death long before 21 January 1793. But regicides of earlier times and their followers were interested in attacking the person, not the principle, of the king. They wanted another king, and that was all. It never occurred to them that the throne could remain empty forever. -- Albert Camus

In the UK we have BST to keep the rest of us in sync with the farmers - who still get up 3 hours before the rest of us. Today we returned to GMT for the winter. The only true purpose of it is so that Dad's can say "spring forwards, fall back" in a smug voice to their kids, which I always enjoy doing twice a year!
