... for Vendetta-
V for Vendetta (2005) - IMDb Seems like the kind of movie that people here would enjoy, as it addresses the type of fear tacticts that our current government and media rest their laurels on. Thought I'd throw the recommendation out there and see who else out there has caught it. I'm really jealous of any of the UK-ers who were able to catch this in IMAX format. Re: ... for Vendetta-
I enjoyed it, and my 62 year old father loved it. I am a comic geek but I didn't read the original until after I saw the movie and *Blasphemy Alert* I preferred the movie.

Re: ... for Vendetta-
Hi Ben, It's an entertaining flick with good moral intentions, although the use of violence to combat fear is a tad confusing The language is fun too with some creative use of alliteration. Definitely worth a watch... Kakariki

Re: ... for Vendetta-
I read the comic as it came out (in parts) and liked it a lot. I am looking forward to the movie. I believe it has played here, but unfortunately I missed it. Given when the comic came out and now the movie, it appears the message is somewhat timeless.

Re: ... for Vendetta-
I don't know. I see it as more of an "in your face, you germans" film.

Re: ... for Vendetta-
I'm currently reading V. by Thomas Pynchon, and when I saw the thread I got all excited (and surprised it wasn't in the Book Nook). But alas, it's only another silly comic book movie (that actually looks worth seeing).

Re: ... for Vendetta-
Interesting. I wasn't all that impressed with the comic -- I read it when it first came out. So the movie is better?

Re: ... for Vendetta-
In my opinion yes the movie is better, and my father agreed with me. I thought the comic had too many subplots and too many characters and what really threw me off the comic was the way the language was written. It's sort of a niticky complaint but I know that the comic is set in the UK and I can imagine the characters having accents you don't need to write "wot" instead of "what" and similar.

Re: ... for Vendetta-
I liked it very much, although they softened up Eveie's story quite a bit. If they had kept her truer to her graphic novel character, it would have been a better film, I think. Edited by schrafinator, : No reason given.
