Author | Topic: Is anyone else fed up with Muslims complaining all the time? | |||||||||||||||||||||||

Wait a sec, don't they complain when that same guy addresses atheism, abortion, homosexuality, and science? Not that I am aware of. Al the atheits I know of don't give a rats ass about what the Pope says or thinks. I also havent seen a front page with any headline about athiests complaning about anything. I think our reaction to the religious people is one of bemusement rather than complaining. Why should we care about what some old nutter thinks of us? This is what I am essentially saying about Muslims, whay should they give a sh*t about what other people think about their religion?
Maybe not in the same way but they crab about it. Maybe to you they do, but I have never heard an athiest complaining about what any religious leader says about them. In fact, we are more likely to laugh than complain. Brian.

I have trouble understanding Faith you have trouble understanding most things, yet you appear to be more of an expert on every subject here at EvC than the people who do understand. Brian.

Error The case had been brought by an atheist who did not want his third-grade daughter to have to listen to the phrase "under God" in the oath. Or pick any "take the 10 commandments out of X" cases. Next time I am too lazy, next time I am too tired, Next time I don't have enough[/url] time....

The case had been brought by an atheist who did not want his third-grade daughter to have to listen to the phrase "under God" in the oath. I am in the UK. American atheists have the disadvantage of being American, which means there's a good chance they are a few cans short of a 6 pack anyway. Brian.

Say what??? Okay, like I said atheists don't complain in the same way as we have seen with muslims in the mideast, but when the Pope says bad stuff about atheists, abortion, homosexuality, and science I know I have seen atheists get upset. I have even seen protests. I assume the muslims get upset for the same reason. There are a lot of OTHER people who do listen to that old guy in the dress and so what he says carries weight which can effect their way of life. Its kind of like them caring about what Bush says or does. Just because he isn't their president doesn't mean he can't adversely effect them.
I have never heard an athiest complaining about what any religious leader says about them. In fact, we are more likely to laugh than complain.
I could have sworn we've had plenty of threads at EvC with atheists complaining about what the Pope and many fundie leaders have been saying. But let's say that isn't true, maybe there's a difference between atheists in the UK v the US. I'm an atheist and can thoroughly admit that I have gotten upset about what these religious leaders have said, and know others than have as well. Its not like we took any of their statements seriously in the sense that they are making stating some objective truth that hurts us. Its that they are distorting facts and using pretty obnoxious arguments which their followers will use to dictate policy which effects us in very real ways. holmes {in temp decloak from lurker mode} "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." I'll just have to take your word that no true scotsmen-who-are-atheists ever complain about what the pope says. At any rate, excuse me all over the place for being an American Atheist. In contrast, I guess everyone now understands what scotch atheists complain about. At any rate, excuse me all over the place for being an American Atheist. Okay, you are excused. Just be thankful you aren't an American Christian!
In contrast, I guess everyone now understands what scotch atheists complain about. What is a whisky atheist? Brian.

I thought that was robin rohan's domain. Oh it is. The difference is, I make a joke out of it. Now if you were to use 'scotch' while chatting to Scots Muslim, would they be as easy going as I am? It is a common mistake, no big deal at all. Brian.

On the other hand, you Scots should consider it a fitting tribute to the true masters of the art when us yanks call the potation "scotch". After all, everyone knows that blended, canadian, and Irish are "no true whiskey".

/I am an atheist RR, I cannot blame God for anything.
I feel the same way Brian. The world is a mess, the world will end prematurely, and religion is to blame. The nutty God squads have ruined the planet for us normal people. Brian. Belivers listen to the imaginary voices in thier heads that can justify anything. It really ticks me off when the OT is held to justify the Qu'ran as I know they are both twisted. It's like you get stopped for speeding and you say, well others do it to. Never got off a ticket on that excuse.
