Re: in the last daze
It would be interesting to know what belief came in dead last for you as well.
Sorry, didn't see that until now . A three way tie:
Islam 22%
Orthodox Judaism 22%
Roman Catholic 22%

Aside from the fact that
(1) there is no category or allowance for deist or mild theist positions
(2) there is a HEAVY bias to question relating to christian beliefs - some seem to require choosing between 3 christian variations and 1 atheist position and 1 none of the above ....
1. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (100%)
2. Liberal Quakers (97%)
3. Unitarian Universalism (94%)
4. Theravada Buddhism (91%)
5. Mahayana Buddhism (90%)
6. Taoism (81%)
7. Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist) (77%)
8. Neo-Pagan (76%)
9. New Age (69%)
10. Bah' Faith (67%)
11. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (62%)
12. New Thought (62%)
13. Secular Humanism (61%)
14. Sikhism (58%)
15. Hinduism (57%)
16. Reform Judaism (55%)
17. Jainism (49%)
18. Scientology (49%)
19. Orthodox Quaker (45%)
20. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (44%)
21. Jehovah's Witness (41%)
22. Nontheist (37%)
23. Seventh Day Adventist (20%)
24. Orthodox Judaism (14%)
25. Eastern Orthodox (13%)
26. Islam (13%)
27. Roman Catholic (13%)
My impression is that the first three are due purely to the bias in the questions.
And what's with all the last questions ending "should be fundamental" -- fundamentalist? fundamental to what?
sheesh.

categories
There are some omissions I would like to ask them about.
Under Buddhism, why Mahayana and Theravada but not Zen?
Under Taoism, why not differentiate philosophical Taoism and religious Taoism? The two yield very different answers about existence of deity, judgment and afterlife.
I'd like to see Deism and Transcendentalism as their own categories, though these philosophies are surely incorporated in Unitarian, Liberal Quaker and Secular Humanism.
Where are Tenriko and Rastafarianism? They belong on any list that already includes Scientology.

I'd have probably expected 'Secular Humanist' to come out top.
I'm guessing the fact that my agnosticism led me to pick the 'not sure or not important' option most times is why it put UU top.

Ah, the sociopathic perspective--is that on the list?
Maybe I should take the test...

I also took the "What kind of Catholic are you?" quiz:
quote:
You Are a Divine Office (Moderately Traditional) Catholic
The Second Vatican Council was much needed, as far as you're concerned, but you see no reason to push the church further in the direction of change, as many progressives urge. You like the dynamic combination of the traditional approach toward doctrine with the opening of the church to the world that Pope John Paul II (your favorite pope) represented. As far as liturgy is concerned, a reverent Mass in the vernacular is your favorite, as is a vernacular hymn with a feeling for the transcendent such as "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence." When Nicole Kidman returned to her childhood Catholicism and regular Mass attendance, you were thrilled.
Actually, I was more thrilled when Nicole Kidman got naked in Cold Mountain

This thread could use a little starboard ballast.
Any foot-washing Baptists willing to give it a go?

Hostile Protest Post
Wasn't very happy with the structure of this test. How does one answer questions that one does not know the answer to!?
They seemed to conflate the atheist with the agnostic, and this does not allow enough flexibilty in which to answer; for agnostics at least. Maybe we are the forgotten ones!
