I had "Simply Christian" recommended to me. After researching it on the internet I ordered it and am just finishing it.
I have felt for a long time that CS Lewis is probably the greatest Christian author of all time, with "Mere Christianity" being his most important book. I still think so, but I now consider N.T. Wright (The Bishop of Durham) to be a close second if "Simply Christian" is indicative of his writing. I'll get a better idea in the future as I have just ordered another book by him.
His theology is as near as I can tell very close to Lewis. This would mean that jar would call him conservative and Faith would call him a liberal.
The book is well broken down into its various sections and is not a difficult read but he has many new insights that I am going to have to re-read and ponder for a while.
If someone wants to really research the Christian faith I still consider "Mere Christianity" to be the first book one should read, but if he/she still wants to know more I definitely recommend that "Simply Christian" be the next one on the list.
Here is his web site.
