Is there something wrong with my monitor or is your picture too dark to see? I have to take most pictures posted here to the photo editor to lighten them up enough to make out what's in them. In the case of yours it's nothing but a black silhouette. When I lighten it up I can make out your face and the instrument and Led Zeppelin on your shirt.

Kuresu Picture
The avatar is dark, the larger picture under profile less so.
It's because the lighting is from the back, so the shadow is thrown in front.

Re: Kuresu Picture
Backlighting makes it darker but I have to think my monitor is probably going out since most of the pictures are too dark for me. Schrafinator's horse avatar is not intelligible until I lighten it up for instance. I can't make out the features of kuresu's even in the Profile, but it's quite visible when I edit it.

Re: Kuresu Picture
because of anglagards comments, I took a new picture. Little bit difficult--using a built in webcam to take them.
anywho, the original avater was a JPEG, which was accepted.
when I tried switching, it forced me to do a GIF in order for the change to actually take place. And I'd much rather use the JPEG version--better quality and within size limits.
anyone got a clue as to why, when updating my avatar, it refused to recognize the change until I used a different fily type?
(I know the first was JPEG because it, and GIF, are the ony ones small enough. And you see the quality of the GIF that I've now. first one has much better quality)

The forum changed to a newer software release since the time you signed up. Maybe it a bug in the current software version.
I suggest you report the problem at Bug Reporting II.

Re: Kuresu Picture
gifs and jpgs are acceptable so the file type was not the problem. The only limitation I am aware of is that the source file must be on your personal computer and within size limits.

Re: Kuresu Picture
Welcome to EvC, BB. As the King James translators said, get ready to be 'tossed upon tongues.'
Looks good, kuresu. I like the pose with the instrument. The brightness and contrast look fine on my monitor but I do see a repetitious pattern of some sort. It's as if the capture was made through a glass window that had some kind of texture to it. Is that an artifact of the image or...?
I have a question for all. How do the animated avatars work?

Re: Kuresu Picture
that pattern is due to the GIF being shrunk. My first was a JPEG, but when I changed to this better one, I was forced to use the GIF. I'm going to try later with another JPEG, and hopefully that'll work.
