Hi there Mena,
Your question is very appropriate to this site, and I will try to help you.
First, you need to know that humans actually did not evolve from apes. Apes and humans share a common ancestor. From that ancestor, humans branched off in one direction, and the great apes went in another direction.
The following is a very good site, written in less technical jargon, also with several good links to more information.
http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Temple/9917/evolution/evolution-for-beginners.html
Good luck, and please come back if you have more questions.
Allison
