Re: No Need for Advertising
the concept of evolution is too benign in addition to being too self-evident, to require advertising to most rational beings.
I don't know how "benign" it is: I find it rather radical and earth-shaking myself, once you grasp all its implications. But on the other hand when some product is advertised excessively, I begin to have grave doubts about it. Also, if one handed over the idea to an advertising agency, I find it hard to imagine what they might come up with that would work.

Re: It's not science, imo
Show me the papers then, and I will look at them and critique them.
Where are they?
In scientific journals.
Take your pick.

Great, I'll start a new thread.
I will also put out a call to the scientists on this board who work in related fields to provide some links to online copies of papers that are appropriate.

To the scientists
I hope you would be able to judge best papers that are reasonably representative but also clearer than most. There's no need to make this harder for RM than it will be anyway.

No new thread?
Perhaps you can explain why not? It was a bit odd to make the statement at all. To make it without explanation is even more so.

I had more important matters to discuss with Schraf than this nonsense with Randman.

Re: A topic warning
yes, but we've already been through that these are not necessary to the idea of evolution.
perhaps, materialism goes hand in hand with abiogenesis--i doubt it, but it is possible-- but certainly not with evolution alone.
and how is evolution more deterministic than a god who has foreknown all things? for things to be foreknown, they must have a set path.
such considerations are not idiotic, but the idea that such considerations are necessity with evolution is idiotic.

Had you been acting in a more responsible, caring way towards me, robin, I might feel some compulsion to pay you more attention.
But it's clear that you don't care about what I have to say, nor about me, so I don't care if you want to continue our discussion.
Therefore, you will have to suffer the consequences.
Edited by schrafinator, : No reason given.

Of course, I agree entirely.
After all, I want to be able to understand them too.
I've also put in the OP a call to all of the scientists on the board to provide some likely candidates.
Of course, I prefer that he bring up his own examples that he has surely found during his journey to the determination that the papers are poor scientific quality, but he was not forthcoming...

Often times, when two people are attracted to each other but cannot have each other they fight. Its the only way they can express those deep passions
