1. According to my dictionary the primary definition is as follows. There are plenty of less meanspirited and inflamitory means of expressing one's frustration in the English language with the opponent than this word. 2. Sometimes this word is used to simply depict a stupid person. Nevertheless, if it is allowable in some cases and not others this leaves admins with this ongoing problem of fair judgement and leaves all members uncertain as to where the line is drawn, arguing about what they really meant when using it et al. Ray, it was Admin and not me who suspended you from coffee house. All I did was to give you a 12 hr needed sabatical. Now you can take a 24 hr break for your insulant attitude here. Next time expect that to at least double according to the magnitude of the offense.

My vote would be to outlaw "idiot" "liar", the "f-word", "yo mama" insults and anything deemed to be the equivalent or derivitive by the moderators. Everything else goes.

Well, under the proposed deer rules, it is a moderator call as to whether any of those are equivalent to idiot et al. However, as my dictionary defines ninny as fool or simpleton, I think a fair minded moderator is going to say that is the equivalent of "idiot". You will have to ask William Safire about "nattering nabobs....", as I believe he was the author of that pugilistic piece of puffery. As for the others - they strike me as falling into the category of childish, and since that usually reflects more on the author instead of the recipient (think of calling someone a poopy head, for example), I would tend to let it go were I a moderator.

Just a question about Adminjar's off-topic message on the Hindu Marriage thread. The title of that thread is not really descriptive of the OP which is concerned with what qualifies as marriage in general, off the topic of gay marriage. Or really, it's about why Christians treat marriages in other cultures and religions as legitimate, but that's pretty much been answered already.In any case, we've been discussing marriage from one angle or another all along, so I'd like an explanation of exactly how we are off topic at this point. You and omni were headed off into defining belief systems, whether your belief system were subjective, whether you base your position on some personal belief.None of that has anything to do that I can see with the subject.Gay Marriage only comes ito the issue in relation to the validity of a marriage sanctioned by some other GOD. It is not about whether you consider Gay Marriage moral or otherwise, but only how you justify the difference in legitimacy between the two.

I have been called an idiot by you at least 50 times...And you are STILL doing it even though you are an admin.I'd advise you to take your own advice..... it's pretty offensive that you are now allowed to chastise others about rule 10 when you are one of the worst offenders (if not THE worst) at EvC.If you want to point out that something violates rule 10 fine.
