The problem is not with me at all.
I assume you know you exist. If so could you point me to anything which is NOT reliant on yourself to prove your knowledge that you exist. For to do so would be self-verification which is no verification at all.
butchering Descartes in the process
You mean "I think therefore I am" Talk about verbal gymnastics. Did he provide an equally famous proof of that?
There is plenty of empirical evidence that you exist.
I think the reason why Rene disappeared up this stripped down side track was that he figured out that all these external proofs were lower order modes of self-verification. He rested on the highest order he could find - but it was still self-verification. Follow his lead and forget all the lower order stuff.
You don't prove you exist, you simply know it
If you say they are the same, then I could easily say that I "know" that Shangri-La exists, and scoff at anyone who doubts me.
If you know that then that is good enough for you. Me? I think you are jesting. But I don't know that you are.

I know you can provide proof of your knowing one exists and that you can't prove your knowing that the other exists. This might inform MY believing YOU. But it doesn't have much to say about what YOU know.
You must decide if you know or not.

Who the fuck cares if you say you "know" something if you cannot demonstrate it to anyone else?
I do. Sorry for pissing you off Shcraf.

You are a strange one Phat. What on earth is wrong with preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ?

Re: >>>>>>Father Ian<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
For sure I can say things that upset people, things which stem from my own failings. But if you think you can talk about people being born sinners and that hell is the certain destination unless one is saved and that they are enemies of God and that Gods wrath is poured out on them this very day and that their ideas on morals are precisely that (to pick a couple of 'inflammible' topics off the top of my head) - without encountering anger and resistance then you are sorely mistaken.
Not that I compare myself to him in anyway, but go have a look and see what happens Paul in Acts where and whenever the gospel was preached. Do you recognise anything?
Follow the softly-softly road if you like Phat. By all means empathise with the likes of Jar's gospel. Sure I fail Christ, but there are as many ways to fail Christ as there are to skin a cat.
Leave 'hard' Gospel to those who are prepared to speak it

Re: >>>>>>Father Ian<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
The only impression I get is you and your ilk tend to be quite rude when somebody does not share your belief system,
Time will tell how you deal with probing into your own belief system. "You and your ilk" indicates the initial rumblings of what the future holds.
even someone such as jar is not immune to your preaching and he is a believer.
You never seen Jar preach? Keep your eyes peeled for his signature "it really is as simple as that".
making it less likely they will comment on what they believe for fear of these attacks.
Evc is awash with people expressing their belief systems. I detect little by way of fear.
Your not the only one but I’ve read plenty of your messages and you really take offence to others who attack your beliefs, so why the double standards?
Defending ones view rigorously is not the same as taking offence. The degree with which I defend often reflects the intensity of 'attack'.
And its something that swings both ways

"You can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar"
Perhaps. But you can kill more flies with vinegar than you can with honey.
The gospel is about killing people Phat - surely you know that.

I think you meant "vigorously" - not "rigorously". The lack of rigor is pretty obvious to everybody
This has class Omni - that doesn't

Because you do not have psychic powers to predict the future.
Who needs psychic powers? I have the Bible haven't I? The God who met me happens to be the same one I subsequently found described in the Bible - and in a way which defies precision. And its power to comment, with self-same precision, on all manner of things to do with man and his nature has only increased the regard with which I hold it.
An eclectic collection of books written by some nomads over a few thousand years. That case is laughed out of my court Larni. And it's only my court that matters to me.
You couldn't make it up.
