ann coulter plagiarizes
(feel free to move this, admins. but since the book contains a chapter or two on evolution, and was apparently partly ghost-written by bill dembski, and it's been getting press, i thought it should go here)
i'm sure many of us realize the fundamental intellectual dishonesty of ann coulter's distortions, and why logical fallacies, nonsequitors, and her general, well, vitriol, don't make for good writing. and i think even the right can acknowledge that bashing 9/11 widows is not only in poor taste, but ethically wrong. (hey ann, the left doesn't send widows so you can't attack them, they send them because people are dying because of the irresponsibility of the right). but anyways. this thread is not about that. this is about a story that's not in the news, but should be.
there's a larger problem with coulter's unethical tripe:
quote:

The Coulter plagiarism snowball is starting to roll...

Plagiarism usually happens when two things converge: an author is trying to write something about which he or she knows very little; and the author is too lazy, busy, or just plain dumb to cover his/her tracks. It's starting to look like Ann Coulter may be one of those authors.
Tracking down plagiarism used to be tedious work. Unfortunately for our modern literary thieves, with computers and the internet it's gotten a whole lot easier. And it appears that Coulter has gotten nailed.
Rude pundit is all over the story. Raw Story is also all over it. The plagiarized sections are starting to pile up, deeper and deeper. Watch out below!

...it's plagiarized.

Coulter disgusts me, and as you know, I'm pretty conservative (but more in the Krauthammer/Will/Judge Jones mode).

Re: ann coulter plagiarizes
Worse still is her attempt to distort meaning while quote-mining other authors.
In some trivial sense, plagiarism is merely a compliment to the true author, a form of homage.
On the other hand, distortion of meaning in the course of plagiarism is the most offensive form of literary insult.

Friend Ann
When I saw Ann on Today a couple weeks ago I had a caprice. She's wonderful! She's the perfect spokesman for the modern republican party. And that cross hanging round her neck adds just the right touch to her folksy republican charm.
Did anyone see Kathy Griffin on Today about an hour or so after the Coultergeist? Speaking about Ann: "What's she doing in a cocktail dress at 7 in the morning?"

Is a better topic for this elsewhere - Closing
The better topic (even has a quality topic title) is Critique of Ann Coulter's The Church of Liberalism: Godless.
This one was also pretty marginal as being "In The News (Creation/Evolution only)" type material.
Closing this one down.
