Do these changes, with others, denote a decline in the morality of our society?
I really don't know. But the ones that are doing all the divorcing seem to be the ones that are screaming bloody murder.
quote:
Who defines what is moral and immoral?
Christians, of course.
quote:
Is the Bible a universal moral guide that should apply even to non-Christians?
Yes, that's why we need to ban gay marriage.
quote:
If so, is it justifiable to legislate morality even to people who do not believe in the Bible?
Absolutely!

But how can you say this?
Thats just like me saying I deserve to rule the world because I think I'm right.
Surely even IF god does exsit and IF christians are right. Doesnt free will allow us believe what we want.
Therefore why should I believe that gay marriage is wrong - it doesnt affect you or me therefore is it not alright?
In fact if anything it affects us in a good way, theres slightly less chance of another person being born therefore helping to slow overpopulation.
And if you tried to tell me not to have sex before marriage or worse than that not to use contraception... lets just say I'll take my chances.

morality is too bound up in cultrual baggage to be clearly defined in global terms . Homosexuality has in differing cultures across history been praised , bannned , promoted , decried ....times and opions change ..
Sex and violence are in the media cos people want to watch them , they are exciting , and allow a "safe" virtual indulgence in them to the viewer ...
Divorce rates are changing because women are no longer tied to a husband , now women can own propertiy , can earn a wage , have the same freedom as men they can leave a non functional marrigde ..... Also the extened family all living together no longer is the norm , so the family unit is much smaller and easier to disolve ....
religion is strongest when no other world view is freely seen , today the answers to the great questions that religion used to answer are given by new sciences and philosophies ... the churchs seem wedded to the past and so the new is embraced ....
does any of this change the amount of morality in the world .. ..... or does it change what is considered important to be counted as a moral standard ???
