Re: Web design
Hi Neuro,
There are a lot more experienced programmers here that will be able to give a better answer. I am very much a newb.
Most of my programming experience is on the webside: HTML, Javascript, XML, ASP (learning PHP), or database side: SQL (SQL Server, Oracle). My internship is basically Flash programming, though I'm working on an ASP project that I'm having fun with. I've had the very basics in Visual Basic.NET.
The basic HTML or xHtml is extremely easy. XML is not difficult either, though I haven't done much work in it outside of class.
If you are getting into Web I suggest database also. To get further than basic pages you will eventually want to connect to a database and will need to understand SQL.
SQL and the web programs that connect with it such as ASP and PHP are logic oriented. Being able to follow "IF THEN ELSE" statements or keep track of a loop are pretty much the same no matter the language. Syntax may differ but the basic structure doesnt really change.

Re: Web design
Asgara,
Honestly I would rather hear from a newb then an experienced programmer; you have a closer point of reference to my own then they would.
Plan on going plan on started slow with HTML and branch out to the harder stuff. I bought a book on HTML coding 2 year back but never really read it Going to break that thing out (if I can find it).
Thank you for all the information it was what I was looking for. Good luck in your web designin ventures

Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with
boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more
approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear. -

Off topic, but...
I may as well ask here, seeing as it's a short Coffee House thread:
Who's the artist of the painting in your avatar?
