While we will likely get to see this play out over the next few months, from what has been said so far this does appear to be a clear violation of the Constitution. While this may not be on the level of criminality of a Ronald Reagan or Andrew Jackson, it will certainly turn out to be yet another black mark on what is turning out to be the most disastrous Presidency since Reagan and among the worst in our history..

Holmes, every electronic communication is monitored, period, If that is true then it is a clear violation of the Constitution.
Amendment IV
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

And....? You just realizing the government doesn't follow the Constitution in many areas? If the President of the United States authorizes behavior in violation of his sworn oath to "uphold the Constitution" he should be impeached, tried, convicted and thrown out of office. Once that is done the next step would be to try him for criminal wrongdoing to see if he should also be sent to jail. The rest of your post is your usual attempt to change the subject and so as usual, should simply be ignored. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

Well your Kiwi Cousins are concerned enough that some are calling for a suspension of the output from Waihopai.

The biggest difference is, as usual, in actions not desire. Many Presidents have wanted power, but when told it was wrong, dropped the issue. But the Bush administration behaved differently. They simply ignore whatever stands between them and their preconcieved notions of reality, or look for loopholes to get around the law. It is the most dishonest, immoral administration in US history since Ronald Reagan.

Yeah, but the US imprisoning non-US citizens is a LOT different in my book than the US imprisoning its own citizens. First, under the new laws we have no way of knowing if US citizens are been detained or not. Second, past lapses of legality have absolutely nothing to do with current lapses of legality. We cannot change what happened in the past, only what is going on now. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

Now, would you classify terrorism as just a fear, or a reality? No one has said that terrorism is not real. What we have said is that this Administration has not done anything to lessen the potential of terrorism, has diverted resources that could be used to reduce the threat from terrorism, has lied about its reasons for the action it did take, has colored and filtered the avialable evidence in a typical example of willfull ignorance, has destroyed some of the basic foundations of our freedoms, may well have committed high crimes and misdemeanors and should be indicted. Now, maybe this is a hoax, but if an nuclear blast goes off in an American city, what will you say then? Probably that BUsh let down on the job. Absolutely. He has let down on the job. The totally pointless invasion of Iraq redirected limited resources away from dealing with the threat of terrorism. No one has ever said that we should not try to minimize the impact of terrorism. What has been said is that this Administration has totally misunderstood the threat and has done a lousy job of addressing it. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

Just FYI.
It appears that AT&T, and perhaps other carriers, gave NSA unfettered access to the Daytona application and associated database. This is not some small little thing but rather 300 Terabytes of data of any phone, wire or email messages that ran over the AT&T network or servers. Aslan is not a Tame Lion
