I would suggest that all of EvC is already a humour forum. The only thing about creationism that isn't funny is the fact that they want their jokes taught in school as an alternaive to science.
Who among us should determine what is funny? (without insulting anyone?)
If somebody is offended by the abbreviation "Xian", we won't be able to say anything at all that wouldn't insult anybody.
I actually like brennakimmi's idea, but if we have to do reverse cartwheels in the name of political corretness, I don't think it's worth it. Let's just stick with people saying what they want and the admins slapping those who cross the line.

People who think they have all the answers usually don't understand the questions.

Re: Question on PNT from brennakimi
postydooodle=submit.
i don't think a whole forum is necessary since it will happen anywhere. i just think memorable, purposely funny posts should be logged for others to see. some of us tend to read only certain forums. i try to avoid the bio and geology ones because i know my limits and i know that the arguments that go on there just make me angry. i think i am going to start avoiding threads where schraf is involved, just to do the community a favor. those who are selective like me tend to miss good things. and just like the potm allows the whole community to read the more profound thoughts, this one will allow use to read the purposely silly ones.

Missing content
In this message, DeAdLy_cOoKiE (whose name, from now on, I will never type that way again), asked for a proper translation of a Dutch text into English. AdminPhat (who sometimes, quite improperly, uses a very un-adminish name to make adminish contributions), wrote two posts in reply, which were later edited out.
I would like to say something about the translation request, but I would first like to know what AdminPhat's missing posts were about, and why they were edited out by his alter ego.
Well, "CoonDawg"?

I would like to nominate Ringo for a humor POTM.

Re: Missing content
As an administrator (or member), I reserve the right to edit out anything that I do not wish to express in any post reply that I myself author.
My altar ego, CoonDawg, (who is a chatroom administrator) has been chastised as an inappropriate name for my Admin status by my fellow Administrators...so I have already been swatted with the rolled up newspaper for thatone! As for "DeAdLy_cOoKiE, he and I had some issues between us concerning chat, and his one link in the translations request was the only way to contact him.
Was there anything else regarding this issue that you wished to discuss with me, parasomnium? You are quite attentive to details---perhaps you should apply to be an administrator yourself!

In your dreams.
Anyway, thanks for letting me know that the nullified posts were not about the translation request.

Members, admins: Good topic titles important part of Proposed New Topics
I have just modified the title of the YEC Age of Earth question (false appearance of age?) topic, by adding the "(false appearance of age?)" part.
The previous version, "YEC Age of Earth question" is but one of numerous examples of titles I file under "pretty worthless". It certainly didn't help in preventing topic drift.
People, let's get good topic titles, that help define the topic theme, on the topic right from the beginnings. I also push the various "Proposed New Topics" reviewing admins to be more picky about topic titles.

Randman: Evolution as Religion
I'd like to suggest promotion of the topic, possibly with a change in title. Rather than yet another "evolution is religion" bs topic, if Randman is willing to change the focus to a discussion of the Cambrian and the position of Haikouella as a basal deuterostome (or not) and its implications, I think that would be a very interesting topic.
Not that I actually think randman is capable of addressing the topic as a scientific one, someone else might be interested.
edited to add link: Evolution is religon says chinese

Changed my Mind
Okay, O' horned one. Given that in two pages of discussion on the Chinese Haikouella rand is insisting on making it yet another evolution is religion topic, I withdraw my suggestion that it be promoted. If it is, it's not going to be something I for one intend participating in.
Sorry for the bother.

a shout out to gezginbekir
Last October gezginbekir began this post:
Message 1
and did not participate (as far as I am aware). It is still open, so rather than trying to post an identical PNT Message 1 might I suggest that gezginbekir discuss their ideas in the original thread?
I don't know if this is the appropriate place for it, but I thought I'd give it a go since gezginbekir's email seems to be bouncing.

The TRUE reason for the EvC controversy ...
I'd like to put my vote in for the promotion of Gone full circle's proposal, The TRUE reason for the EvC controversy. I've never encountered his/her thinking on the subject before -- that is, that there could have been such a complete difference between the original Creation and the earth as we know it since the Fall, even to a different physics -- and it looks interesting, worth exploring.

Please promote the micro vs macroevolution thread.
http://EvC Forum: "Microevolution" vs. "macroevolution." -->EvC Forum: "Microevolution" vs. "macroevolution."
While I have no doubt that this topic has been beaten to death in the past, I think the importance of this topic, however mundane it may be, merits another in-depth discussion. Besides, I still see on occasion people getting confused about these two terms.

Evolution in a nutshell
I know this topic seemed to start out with a lack of focus, but this person is obviously a skilled mathematician who has some fascinating insights into how higher order 'structures' can emerge from the reiteration of relatively simple algorithims. I feel his concepts have some really novel and interesting parallels to real evolutionary processes. Maybe a more descriptive title would help. "Evolution - a simple optimization algorithm?" "Spontaneous evolution in mathematics", or some such. I think the author has potential and I would like to see others have a chance to respond to his topic.
