The "other" Karl being the first, IIRC.

Um, this is my personal opinion but maybe Ten-sai should not have been banned. I do not know all of the particulars, but from what I've seen on Xian controlled websites, they're into heavy handedness and out and out favourites. Now what Ten-sai said was foolish in the extreme, but with examples like him not getting banned, it will take what limited wind those pro-creation boards have when they complain about "evilutionists" and their "evil" banning crud.
Just my $0.02

I would not argue that Ten-sai is particularly intelligent or that his posts contributed much to the debate, but I still don't think he should have been permanently banned. I was hoping that the legal angle on the Evo vs. Creato debate would become interesting i.e. an evo lawyer entering the fray for example. It is a pity that this will not materialize.

Oh Damn, I just had my Lawyer friend come read this. I was hoping to have a real Lawyer educate him. =/

Hi RV,
Could you please have your lawyer friend post anyway based on some of Ten-sai's posts? I would be interested to see what he has to say regarding TS rants from a legal perspective i.e. legal definition of evidence. Why anyone would try to apply legal definitions to scientific evidence etc.
cheers,
M

Sorry to be a wet blanket about this. Ten-sai is also a contributor to other boards, and perhaps you can pick up the thread of the discussion there.
As Ten-sai noted, his was not the only violation of the guidelines, but we're people here, not robots, and everyone is granted the privilege of contributing their own personal flair to their posts. Moderating a thread is not a matter of just blindly following guidelines, but often requires walking a line, and one question I usually ask myself is whether someone's posts are contributing more heat than light. In Ten-sai's case he challenged everything and offered little if anything in the way of information. Even on topics where he would supposedly be an expert, such as the legal definition of evidence, he refused to offer any information. His posts were extended arguments based upon personal incredulity and ridicule, and there was no indication this would change.
All heat and no light made it easy to decide his guideline violations needed attention. Indicating to me that he would not abide by any moderator requests made banning him equally easy.
If Ten-sai indicates to me via email at Evc Forum Administrator that he is now willing to follow the guidelines and abide by moderator requests then I'd be glad to allow him back in. Even if he finds the guidelines too constraining, he could always say whatever he likes in the Free For All forum.
