Is there a way to register (and unregister) for a thread. By that I mean I would like to be notified when any new post is submitted to a particular thread. If not, can it be done? (To be more accurate, it can be done, but do you think it would be worth the effort?)
To be efficient, after registering I would be notified of the next post, then not be notified until I visit the thread. My registeration could be canceled by either my visit or by the first notification email sent to me. When I visit the thread, I could register again. Registration would need to be simple such as a button click.

In essence you a "notify-me" link to raise a one-time flag in the form of an email when a thread is posted to. After visiting the thread, if you again wanted notice for the next message you'd have to click on the "notify-me" link again.
I'll add this to the list of possible enhancements.

But the catches are?
1) It can only be done for topics the individual starts, not for topics started by others.
2) Even then, it must be set up when the topic is started. You can't add the request at a later time.
I've never tried the feature, so I may be wrong. But I see no such feature available to me, for Adminnemooseus started topics already under way. I presume it's the same for minnemooseus.

Added by edit: OK, re: #2 - I now see that you can later activate the feature by going back to editing the message 1 of the topic you started. The check box is thus once again available.

I see I garbled my reply, but I think you get the idea.
Moose is correct that you can request email notification for a thread you start (there's a box to check under the reply box). You can actually turn email notification on and off for one of your own threads while it is still open by editing post #1 - just check or uncheck the box, then click save.
The other feature you might find just as useful can be found in your profile. You can request email notification whenever someone replies to one of your messages, just click "Yes" under "Email Notification", then click on "Submit Modifications".

Hello Admin,
I do elect to receive notifications to my posts and to the threads I initiate. In addition, I want the ability to be notified when ANYONE replies to a thread that I find interesting. Not all interesting replies are directed to me. From your earlier post I conclude that you understand this and will or have put my suggestion under consideration.
Thanks for your time,
bkelly
