I hate days like these.
I just received an e-mail from a dear and good friend letting me know his two most recent daughters were still-born this Thursday gone .
The poor man actually apologised for having to let me know via e-mail.
Life sucks on so many levels .

It does that indeed. But this rates worse than the average. My condolances to you and that man....

I'm sorry to hear that. I have a couple friends who had stillborn children. My wife had a couple miscarriages, but that's nothing like having a stillborn. My condolences.

Just sending my best wishes to you and your friend.
If you want some help on brainstorming ideas on how you can feel more close to someone who is far away, maybe we can help. A friend having a problem sucks; a friend having a problem and you can't do much 'cause they're away is tough. I personally have a fair amount of experience in that domain...
Take it easy.
Ben

The time to mourn is not fun!
I feel your pain, Ohnhai! Perhaps you can muster up the courage to respond to your friend with a deep and heartfelt letter (or perhaps a phone call, if you are unable to meet in person.) Do try and encourage him and be as optimistic as possible. Of course, only you know your friend and how to share/ease the pain. There will be much better days ahead, but there is a time for mourning and a time for laughter. Do hang tough!

Oh no. How truly heartbreaking. I don't think there's any greater pain than losing a child. Two would be unbearable.
I do think he would appreciate to hear from you in some way. A handwritten letter/card is a wonderful idea.
