Some churches believe that women are to use such gifts in teaching women and children only.
What message do you think that sends young female children about their place among men?
For example, is it OK for a girl to do better than a boy in school?
Is it OK for a girl to be class president?
Is it OK for a woman to head her own company and have authority over her male employees?

Re: Think Deborah would disagree?
Why do you admire the roles of men so much? Don't women have their own importance in their own roles? Isn't there something a tad sexist about your idea that women have to be identical to men or somehow they are inferior?
By the way girls USUALLY do better than boys in school up to a certain age. Nothing new there.

Side-issues of side-issues
This thread was actually asking an important question. Seems we've skirted around it basically from the start, apparently showing more interest in talking about side-issues and side-issues of side-issues.
I'll repeat something that jar reminded me of recently. This is a board focused on the discussion of creation vs. evolution. It's a helpful thought, in trying to focus discussion on the issues. My advice is to keep that thought in mind when posting to threads related to the "great debate" (such as this on was supposed to be).
Time to shut this down. Feel free to open topics related to the side-issues' side-issues.
