There is actually more to this thought than the continuation of a personal conversation with JAR. It is not simply a joke, but involves showing the above remarks are equivalent to Chomsky when he suggests trying to get a computer to do what only humans can. I think that relating isolation by distance and generalized tracks can be worked on a computer using 1s and 0s and all of symbolic logic but this would involve something a bit more involved than the simple "biologically given" that Chomsky permits. I have called the more detailed description of it technobiology rather than biotechnology.
