Re: Meanwhile, back in the asylum...
The moon landings also caused excessive rainfall and flooding in the early 1970s in the Eastern U.S. according to some....
Just goes to show we need to "be careful out there."

Everyone knows the project is target practice for the alien mothership that is entering our solar system as we speak.

Well this makes me feel much better because it looks like our aim is true. I hope their shields aren't too strong!
What a feat it must have been to pull this off. And people argue that humans are just another animal, and that we're aren't any different than the rest of the animals.

Who's ever said that? Now you're just making things up.
On the other hand if you can put a pig's heart in a man, or cure a diabetic with sheeps' insulin, my guess is that we're not all that different, if the parts are that compatible.

I don't think it's the parts that make the difference.

sorry for off-topic
I don't remeber specifically who, but it has come up.
I do remember a qualitative vs quantitative discussion somewhere suggesting that humans were no different form the other animals, on a qualitative level...or perhaps it was quantitative, i don't remember.

I don't see how anyone could seriously say that humans were "no different from the other animals" given that, even among the animals, it's impossible to say that any one animal is "no different" than the others.
They're all different. The animal kingdom boasts enormous diversity. That diversity is more than sufficient to encompass all that makes humanity unique.
