I would like to hear some background information on any site member who is reading this. Alot of times I go into forums not knowing the opinions/history of certain people. This is more of a chat kinda thing I guess as opposed to a formal introduction. Let me start with myself.
I am an evolutionist/big banger who has had some bad experiences with creationists. I am an aspiring physiscist who loves to learn new things. I am always open to new things as long as I learn something. I suck at English. Im terrified of moderators/admins. I shudder when the words banished, suspended, or closed are mentioned. I like to highlite things, habit, when Im reading or at least click on all the words, this sometimes ends up mixing parts of my posts around (like when I highlite something then click on it and end up dragging that sentance fragment somewhere else). I have already read some posts and I know a couple of people.

Well Notwise, my name is Jason. I am a nurse living in north texas. I used to feel the evolution theory was all there was that made any sense when I was a child and a young adult. I used to be very fond of Carl Sagan, especially his TV show 'Cosmos". I am a born again Christian of 8 years and now believe that this is a young earth and believe in the inerrant word of Scripture. I am also like you in that I am fearful of some mods and admins and worry about retribution in forums like this (especially with my belief system). However, I have yet to see anything to fear here so far, except one must be prepared to give an adequate defence of their beliefs here, or you will be picked apart. These guys are very intelligent.

Also.... cutting and pasting topics is very ill advised with this group of intellectuals here.

I would like to hear some background information on any site member who is reading this.
Many of the people who contribute to this forum are scientifcally educated. I am not. I teach English in a community college. Some have a philosophical background. Some are very religious. There is one person who contributes who is very strange: I've never understand a single sentence he has written.
I shudder when the words banished, suspended, or closed are mentioned.
The Admin. just don't want people abusing others or saying the same thing over and over without advancing the argument, that's all.
Personally speaking, I dislike it when someone answers my argument by directing me to a website. They might at least write a few sentences.

Welcome to the world of EvC
If you have not yet done so, I suggest that you invest a few moments in reading the Posts of the Month forum. In there you will find examples of posts that were considered outstanding, things to be emulated.
Almost all closings are related to one of two reasons. The first is a length limitation. We have found that after about 300 posts, most threads have run their course. Therefore, at around that witching hour, threads are closed. If there is (as is often the case) still something to be discussed, we encourage a continuation thread be proposed. That works well as a way of refining the direction of the discussion.
The second most common reason for closings is a temporary close. This is simply a pause to allow everyone to rethink their message before posting and will usually happen when a thread really takes off with many posts in a short period of time. It's but the internet equivalent of three deep breaths.
Bannings too need to be understood. No one so far has been banned for their point of view. Creationist, Evolutionist, Theist, Atheist, all are welcome. Bannings happen based on behavior. If you follow the rules, all will be fine.
At the end of this post you'll find some links to topics that may help you enjoy your stay here. Don't fear the Admins (except for the Queen), they, like the Government, are here to help you.

New Members should start HERE to get an understanding of what makes great posts.

Why are you spreading rumors about me again?
You know this displeases me greatly.
