I originally issued this challenge here
This challenge is to Eclipse's content:
Cosmic Evolution-the origin of time space and matter from the big bang. Big bang-literally nothing that spun around really fast and then broke apart.
Chemical Evolution-the origin of more complex elements that came from the hydrogen produced by the big bang.
Stellar and Planetary Evolution- the origin of stars and planets form dust clouds
Organic Evolution-life from non-living things
Macroevolution-one kind animal changes into another like an ameba slowly becoming an elephant
Microevolution-the variations that occur within the kinds such as dogs and wolves having a common ancestor.
If we threw this into an open to all debate, I'm sure it would turn into a big mess. Thus I would like to confine it to being between just us.
If interested, we can do the pre-debate groundwork in this topic.
Moose

Please submit an opening message to "Proposed New Topics" when ready
First of all, feel free to first do further "pre-debate" preparation discussions in this topic.
If and when you are ready to launch the "Great Debate", go to Proposed New Topics and click the "New Topic" button.
Suggested topic title: Great Debate: The Types of Evolution.
What you wish to include in your message 1 is up to you. I would guess it would include the content quoted in message 1 of this topic. The various admins might suggest some tweeking of your message 1, prior to its promotion. That is up to them.
The debate would be limited to being between you and me. We would alternate messages. Both of us are free to take our time between messages. Perhaps someone would like to suggest a guideline to the permitted time periods. I certainly don't anticipate posting more than 1 message per day, and I offhand would expect to be taking a couple of days to prepare my message, after you have made your reply.
I don't anticipate needing a moderator, but unless otherwise arranged, the various admins (Adminnemooseus excluded) would be the moderators. You are certainly welcome to suggest a moderator of your choice.
As has been the accepted procedure in the most recent "Great Debates", there will be no "Peanut Gallery" side topic until the "Great Debate" topic is concluded and closed.
Input from the admins (and maybe others?) welcome in this topic.
Moose
Added by edit: As with any topic, any edits for content should only be done immediately after the original posting of the message. It's never fair to change your content well after the original posting.

I'm gonna keep an eye on this one.
If the moose has no problem with this I'll be keeping an eye on this debate. I think eclipse needs guidance and protection as a new creationist member from the intimidation of the more experienced evos. Experience plays a big role in debate so i will take the liberty of watching out for him/her. Of course im gonna be fair as always

Re: The list of types of evolution
I will point out to Eclipse that I am to a fair degree, but not at all totally, in agreement with her list as presented in message 1.
I am not looking so much to refute her list - I am looking more to a discussion of and refinement of the list.
Per the "Professor Moose" - It's a joke. I have no PhD. I don't even have a Masters degree. I have a Bachelors degree (BS) in geology, and I've forgotten much of that education. Also, my formal education in biology consists of one class in invertibrate paleontology.
Bottom line - I'm not that well educated. I'm not that smart. I am usually pretty easy to get along with, unless you make the special effort to get the admin mode to turn into the cranky admin mode.

Re: The list of types of evolution
Pretty much the same here. I'm just about always smiling and I don't have a problem with any one. The only reaon I debate is because I have a problem with certain theories. I debate to either correct or be corrected. You don't seem biased to me which is great and I'll try my best to do so as well. Of course it's not like I'm known for being biased or anything but just the same.

Suggestion to eclipse or admins
Re: http://EvC Forum: Types of Evolution (Eclipse vs. Minnemooseus only) -->EvC Forum: Types of Evolution (Eclipse vs. Minnemooseus only)
As I am to be a participent, the admin mode will not make the changes.
But I suggest the topic title be tweeked from "Great debate:types of evolution" to "Great Debate: Types of Evolution (Eclipse vs. Minnemooseus only)". That will hopefully keep the others from posting in the topic. Since it is to go into the "Great Debate" forum, perhaps the "Great Debate" part can be dropped from the topic title.

Re: Suggestion to eclipse or admins
It seems for me to "change thread title" I need director status ??
Nevermind, going directly to it allows me to change it.
Should one of us promote the topic as well?

Message 3 of "Great Debate" under construction
Just a note to let you know that I am working on a reply to your message 1.
Maybe it will be posted sometime in the next 24 hours. Maybe not. But I don't think this topic is going to be moving too fast for the membership to follow.

Edited to change "2" to "3" in subtitle, since AdminNosy did message 2.

Re: Message 3 of "Great Debate" under construction
In the immediate hours after I posted the previous message, I had a burst of enthusiasm and I did create (in Microsoft Word) what is probably going to be the bulk of my initial reply at the "Great Debate".
Unfortunately, between doing that effort and the various admin mode efforts, I seem to have severely scorched my few remaining active brain cells. This has prevented the review and final polishing of said message.
Indications are, there might be a need to rebuild the whole head. But I will try to get the message posted in the next 14 hours. At that point, all the observers can say to themselves "It took him that long to come up with that message?"

Re: Message 3 of "Great Debate" under construction
It's been over 3 months, and I am still only halfway done with a post on free will that I'm "writing" (in reply to holmes).
I still reserve the right to make fun of you after you finally post though. By the way, is this thread going to act as a peanut gallery thread? Honestly speaking, I think eclipse is kicking this "moose" guy's ass so far...
