Very funny indeed.
You may want to check this related link :

On the not so funny side, the school bored (sic) of Cobb county is getting attention in the evolution/creation debate and is supposed to have another vote later this week. See :

About the 2nd article, the proposal before the Cobb County school board says that the district "believes that discussion of disputed views of academic subjects is a necessary element of providing a balanced education, including the study of the origin of the species."
Sounds perfectly reasonable to me to discuss scientific challenges to scientific views.

That may be so but I smell Sunday School Science wafting on the air. Perhaps I just don't trust schoolboards.

Creationism isn't a scientific challenge for the simple fact that it isn't science, it is religously inspired pesudo-science. All this is is an attempt to sneak in creationism into the schools.

Thanks, Gene. I'm short of time lately and hence the brevity.
Few people would object to science class discussions of disputes taking place within the scientific community. My short point was intended as a reminder that the Creation/Evolution debate is not taking place within the halls of science between scientists, but rather in public forums between conservative evangelicals and a casual coalition of concerned citizens and scientists. It's proper fodder for a civics or social studies class, but not a science class.

--My first instinct would have been to laugh almost uncontrollably...but the tears came first :\ The suggestion of an 'IG' entity is just sad.
--Also, my suggestion in this thread would eliminate the need for even the possibility of our science books being covered with stickers of doubt.
