quote: Their perfection unraveled when they made the wrong choice. Making soup now became arduous, it was like real work. Whereas before they made the wrong choice, making soup was not related to work at all. In fact, I am certain that soup grew on one of the trees in that garden. After that, they were hungry for a while, because the veggies for the soup needed to be growed by them. Eve also didn't like that she had to do all the housework, and Adam was mad as a hatter 'cause he had to plow them fields by the sweat of his brow. And when the kids came along, things got really bad. Adam believed in tough love, Eve thought spoiling them a wee bit was ok. But, anyways, to make a long story short, that is how it happened. Choices, choices..oh how some can get us into real trouble. "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind." Hey, Al, I agree!

Making soup now became arduous, it was like real work. Ok, I see by your example that post-sin, the actual behavior changed in regards to how it was carried out. That makes a lot more sense, thanks.

Looks to me like it would take a lot more faith that there might be something billions of lightyears away would exist. Also, have you looked at the odds for life on this planet. How it happened only Jesus knows.

quote: Yes. Thats pretty much why I consider life inevitable on water-bearing worlds. I'm in the camp that expects to see life anywhere we see liquid water. This message has been edited by contracycle, 02-21-2005 04:53 AM

the chances in the known universe for life to exist on another planet is nada. Just cause water is on a planet doesnt mean that there will be life. why do you think nobody takes orgs like seti seriously. Here is a cool website you should check out. Yes its christian but he is a scientist and most scientists will agree with what he says, if you find one that doesnt let me know and we will discuss further.

The url didn't work for me.
In addition, you are expected to use a site to back up your arguments. If the chance of life on another planet is "nada" then you should be able to show how that is determined. I ask, because I am very, very sure you can not support such a statement. Looking forward to learning something, I am. ABEAnd do be careful about dogmatic statments. There are these little clues that our neighbor may have extant life right now. This message has been edited by NosyNed, 02-22-2005 22:34 AM

sorry, I cant get it to work, but if you go to Apologetics Home - Apologetics.com and hit the articles button, go to scientific apologetics and the article called just right universe by Hugh Ross. Its my prayer you can get something from this. look forward to discussing this.
God bless

Yes its christian but he is a scientist and most scientists will agree with what he says, if you find one that doesnt let me know and we will discuss further. I've located the URL. boomatt is refering to A "Just Right" Universe, by Hugh Ross. In fact, the cited article makes the diametrically opposite claim to boomatt. The article is all about "fine tuning" of the universe. There is no mention at all of any special properties of our planet. Hugh Ross is saying that the known universe is exquistely tuned for life. Not one planet, but the natural laws of the universe itself. The person I have found who apparently does not agree with Ross is "boomatt". Cheers -- Sylas

Thank you. I did manage to drill down to it. It is not apparent to me what is wrong with your URL.
I did a quick read over it. (You might note what Sylas has to say about it ). Here is one of a number of places where this is dicussed.
Life and Fine-tuning of the universe. The old 747 from a junkyard analogy is discussed here:
Understanding how complex things appear and Message 2 It is, as noted a rather silly analogy.

quote: I think you meant to say "why do you think IDIOTS don't take SETI seriously." SETI is IMO the second most profound project with which humanity is presently engaged. The first is adressing global warming.
