hydroxylic acid?
and H2O doesn't really address the issue of what is really going on, but presents a really simplified version.
in practice there is a sea of H- and OH+ as well as chains of {H2O}n and a variety of energy levels, and ...
... I also think I have seen it as HOH (hydroxylic acid? )
{added by edit} isn't it interesting that water combines the elements of acids and bases ...? a yin\yang compound?
