I challenge any Christian, without making something up, to explain how slaughtering forty-two children is anything but the act of a psychopath. Why a christian? You require a Jew - you have argued against the Jewish bible, us CHRISTians follow the law of the spirit of life. Events in the OT are irrelevant to me, any evil I'll simply attribute to man. When you first use an example from the NT - then we'll talk. But let's make it fair - since we have Christ as God's example - let's submitt all OT writings to man, and submitt Christ's actions to God. Now where did Christ do any killings remind me?

It's not all that different from many such tales and stories, not as bad as some of Grimm's Fairytales. It is a tale with a moral, don't be nasty. After all, what happened to Red Riding Hood's Granny? Aslan is not a Tame Lion

He cursed a tree for not giving fruit out of season!!
He beat the money changers! He cast demons into a poor helpless pig!! But alas he did not kill anyone, unless your of the belief that Christ is God. Then all the killin God did Christ did too. Or not. I get confused with matters of the Trinity. "One is punished most for ones virtues" Fredrick Neitzche

You mean the species before us? The human brain is not finished developing until about 13 years of age. There are brain growth spurts that correlate with various skill and behavioural changes. Around 2 years there is a brain growth spurt that is sometimes referred to as the "terrible twos" for example. This was your statement:
If you love something, let it go, if it doesn't come back, hunt it down and kill it. If you believe in that statement, then you can see how we were created in God's eyes. Then you said:
Then you are taking it literally. You missed the moral of the saying. If you love something, then you can let it go. If it doesn't come back, then it probably didn't love you. Not that you would ever go hunt something because it didn't come back, thats not the point. I don't understand why you would see it that way only. You didn't say "If it doesn't come back then it wasn't meant to be" If that wasn't your point then why didn't you say something. I believe you think that God bestowed death and hell on people so the parallel was apparent. Shall we ask for some other opinions? I don't think I was misrepresenting what you initially wrote. lfen

quote: Becuase christians happen to be the most easily accessible group of the people who follow this ancient text. Now get on with it: how can god be good when it performs such evil acts? After all, god is the first genocidist.

So you think raising your kids to tease others is a good thing?

First off, lets clear something up.
I think your a smart person. So if you want to find out what a bible verse means, you can go study it at good source on the net like BibleGateway.com: A searchable online Bible in over 150 versions and 50 languages. Then if you still had questions, you could ask us. The children were not torn limb from limb. They were mauled by the bears. It was sign to a nation of unjust people, of what was about to fall on them. Thank God he sent his son to free us of stuff like that. All we have to do is follow his ways.

He was missing?
Awesome, that must mean he killed someone. How did you figure that out?

The bible speaks of this responsibility of the parents during those years. to make sure we grow up right, and knowing God. If our parents do not teach us of God, then we carry their sins with us. Even if they do teach us, we can still carry their sins. We can only be delivered by Christ. I know your next question would be, "what about the children who have no parents?" Well that is supposed to be our responsibility. Anyone who harms a child is not following God's word. We are also supposed to support widows as well. We are supposed to stick together as a race of beings.
You didn't say "If it doesn't come back then it wasn't meant to be" If that wasn't your point then why didn't you say something. I guess you have never heard that saying before. It is quite old, and the moral of it, is what I explained. The hunting down and killing part is the humor side of the statement. It's pretty obvious that 99.9% of people would not go and hunt down things they let go. It is also 100% against God to do such a thing.

quote: All I pointed out was the claim "Jesus never killed anyone" cannot be shown to be true. Aren't christians supposed to be honest, rat? You know full well I did not claim to know that Jesus killed, so why did you twist my argument that way? This message has been edited by contracycle, 11-10-2004 09:29 AM

And he's comfortable worshipping a bloodthirsty genocidist? Can you show me where Jesus done this. Chapter and verse please.
I'm much more worried about the being rended limb from limb bit. Erm...no - you're not. What you and your chum Gilgamesh are doing - is "appealing to pity" fallacy. It goes like this; "Oh but look at the big bad nasty God - killing the children"...But since I don't believe God done this in the first place - why should I address your strawman and pity fallacies? 1. I don't believe God killed any kid. THAT is my position2. The appealing of your lil bible quote mining won't wash cos I believe all evil is attributed to man who is satan's gimp. So, are YOU going to read properly now? I believe the destroyer Christ spoke of is the worker of evil - let in by man's sin. (satan) is his other name. I believe Christ is God's example of how God is. Merciful, gracious, healing illnesses etc. Since you and Gilgo have completely ignored this fact and are still touting christians as believers ina bad God - you have proved zero, zilch, zip all = null and void argument. You can't just ignore what the guy claiming to believe, says. I hold your position to the wind - it bids for the rant with a particle of dust. I take hold of the dust -SOLD!. A particle's worth more, it gets in my eyes but doesn't intend to.

Had any more prayers come true yet? Didn't you find your sister, when she dissapeared, if I remember rightly.

The attitude of the ignorant never ceases to amaze me.
So lets get this straight, Its ok to for your kids to tease, but its not ok to make a fig tree wither its leaves? Like we need that fig tree so bad.
Aren't christians supposed to be honest, rat? You know full well I did not claim to know that Jesus killed, so why did you twist my argument that way?
Try not to think of it as twisting, but untwisting. Look for the light.
