I've had a cat once also. My idea is that they have no moral free will. they do not know good or evil. Your cat responds only to your enforcement and not to a moral system. It has no system and only acts to satisfy its appitites.

Then why, exactly, does she not attempt to eat me while I sleep?
I have no memory of ever having admonished her against doing so, so it's clearly not my enforcement.

This is not because of moral principal. She also would not eat a smaller sleeping dog. Yet if she was hungry in both cases it would be done without reservation. The male cat on a farm will kill the kittens to bring the female xcat into heat. No love or hate is in its motive toward the kittens.

Which, in and of itself, does not explain why when she is hungry, instead of attempting to eat me, she instead meows while standing next to her food bowl.
My sleeping body is an immediate source of food. An empty food bowl is not.

Its a cop out to say we are just more intelligent. Well thats the difference. And the difference is not in the mind but the thoughts of our hearts.A deeper thinking.
Where are the signals, nodes and fibres of the thinking structure in the heart? Yes there is some electrical cabling, but it controls muscle contraction.
This "deeper thinking" is in fact shallow metaphor. Any argument you can level against an animal having a moral system, I can level at a human.
