I read the instruction manual for what I buy.
However, the bible is not the instruction manual for life. It is a book of myths from a bronze age culture.
Would you install windows xp on a system using the manual for installing windows 2.0 on dos?

In fifty years, have you ever repented?
Only you and God would know if you truely did.
If only God and he would truly know, then why do you ask this question as you will never know so it leaves you in the place you started?

Re: still kinda new
quote:
If you don't believe in jesus, and that he is the savior, etc, etc, then you arent going to heaven. John 3:16-21.
So, God will damn anyone to hell, or at least to not ever be in heaven, even if they live and die their whole life without ever even hearing about Jesus?
All of those people who lived before Jesus was born are in hell right now?
Ghandi will be in hell?

Another stupid scientific? analagy.
Tell me pray tell, what windows has to do with God?
It is for some an instruction manual for life, a very good one BTW.
It is more importantly how you get to know God, by reading his word, and doing the things he asks, so that you may recieve the Holy Spirit in your life. Then all things become new, and the truth is revealed, and you get to enjoy what you were created for.

Or you could look around at what HE actually created and not a Book written by mere humans with all their frailities and limitations.

It is of course obvious to you and possibly to some. But in this internet medium it's hard to know what people intend with their communications. I often slip into the trap of responding to something I think someone said when it turns out they had meant something else.
What you intended with your question is ambiguous. Can you be more explicit? Were you suggesting he should repent? or suggesting that he had repented, i.e. changed his mind at some point? or what?
I'm sorry but I don't know what you intended by your comment especially the part that seems to say you won't believe his reply so that only he and possibly your God? will know if he is telling the truth or not.
I know you think you were being obvious but you left a lot out and I fell and hit my head as a child and perhaps as a result have never developed telepathy

Don't be a hypocrite, you even said yourself that God's word can be found in the bible.
Plus I have agreed with you twice already about studying what he created. Thats part of how the truth got known to me.
Yes the bible was written by man, but that doesn't mean the whole thing is wrong.

It was pretty simple, if you followed the conversation from the start.
He said:
What Asgara said in post #4 - I finally just gave up trying to "believe" in such a self-contradictory and evidence-contradicted mishmash after nearly fifty years of trying it all out.
So for fifty years he tried it all out, I assumed he knew to try it it out. But repenting is no easy task. It is what God asks of us.
Only he and God would know about it, because most people wouldn't admit if they are trying to be as sin free as humanly possible, or tell the truth if they weren't, and the ones that are, no-one believes them, because most people aren't.
It was a simple question for him to ask himself. If he never really tried it for God, then he probably wouldn't find God.
Oh, and he's your God too.

I probably should have been more explicit.
"So, God will damn anyone to hell, or at least to not ever be in heaven, even if they live and die their whole life without ever even hearing about Jesus?"= Read Romans 2:12-16
As far as gandhi goes, riverats been sayig it for a while, ony god and gandhi knows. Salvation is personal,

It was an analogy.. You do know what an analogy is.. admittedly a sarcastic one.
Think of it as a parable.

It doesn't mean that it is from a supernatural diety either, no matter what it's claim.

awesome
its great that you believe in what you see. It is truly amazing, the world around us, too amazing to believe that it was a bunch of scientific coincidences and unexplainable phenomena made us. But it is god's word that the building block to leading a christian life. You can't just refuse to read the law, and say you know it all by common sense... sure you might know most of it, but what if yaou have doubts? What if others have them? What if you have questions? The Bible is important, and again, it isn't the men who wrote the bible that matters, its the spirit that guided them to write it. Many men, one spirit.
