The intent of the new forum is:
"This is a place for short term stuff, such a personal messages, announcements, and discussions not intended for long-term forum retention. All topics are very subject to deletion, on the request of the originator and/or the discretion of administrators."
An example of something suitable for this new forum is http://EvC Forum: Mark24 -->EvC Forum: Mark24
Topics such as this, while useful, have no long term purpose for being retained in the server storage.
A second message, from my alter-ego minnemooseus, will be forthcoming.

I made this a "members only" forum, but I guess it could be opened up to non-members also.
Comments, anyone?
The only other message currently in this forum is "NOVA program Tues. 1/21 - the coelacanth" (http://EvC Forum: Test Zipped Topic Pages file -->EvC Forum: Test Zipped Topic Pages file), which I plan on deleting later tonight (I thought I'd let it persist for 24 hours after the program aired).

FORUM BUMP!
My current impression is that there is a lot of potentially very disruptive side (off-topic) chit-chat currently happening at various topics (eg. - Please see what lead up to my comments at http://EvC Forum: Biblical contradictions II -->EvC Forum: Biblical contradictions II).
I once again suggest that this forum might be the place for a lot of the light conversation that, while often having considerable amusement, is also adding significant disruptive bulk to topics.
The looming server storage space crisis that spawned the creation of this forum does not seem to be currently pressing, so I haven't been deleting any "Short Term" topics.
Cheers,
Adminnemooseus

Just visited the old forum and notice that I am no longer a member and see nothing posted since my last visit - 7/19. What's up with that?

At the time I created this new forum, we were seemingly facing a server storage space crisis. For various reasons, we are no longer facing this crisis.
I have just moved 1 topic out of this forum, into a more perminent forum. There are probably other topics which should also be moved out of this forum. And there are probably topics that should be moved into this forum.
I encourage all NOT to use the "Short Term" forum, for topics that will be extended discussions.
This forum should be the electronic equivalent of a "sticky pad" note. Something that should be available for a short period of time, and then thrown away. Not that I've been in any rush to delete the "Short Termers".

Re: BUMP
There are a lot of topics being started in this forum, that don't belong here (alas, I've done it myself).
This forum is intended as NOT being a debate forum. It is for messages such as my non-admin mode announcing his webcast radio programs, and for such things as "Hey Bob, please e-mail me" (assuming Bob's e-mail address is not available).
It is NOT a place to bypass the "Proposed New Topics" process.
I think I may make this a "No Replies Permited" forum in the near future, once the existing topics are terminated or moved to other forums. Then the "Short Subjects" forum will effectively be the "One Message per Topic" forum.
Remember, the "Short Subjects" topics are by definition subject to being deleted by admins.
Please review up-topic also.

BUMP
Please review this topic thread, especially my message 1.
It may well have been a mistake to created this forum. Most topics that I think belong here are going elsewhere, and most that are going "Short Subject" don't belong here.
May be closing this forum to new topics soon.
