I don't know about anyone else but the whole "great debate" seems absolutely insane - if not redundant. By redundant I mean from the aspect of scientific insight/theory/fact. Why do creationists bother? Why is this still an on-going debate? We know where we came from and we have the science to prove it (not in totality, but certainly close). There is just SO much that we can prove that takes God(s) out of the equation. I know I should state a bit of the proof and reference it, etc. etc. but I'm not going to for reason of time and effort, which is why I'm in the coffee house to begin with...
So, the question perpetually remains: why?
Even though Genesis has now been proven wrong 'they' still believe. The inspired word of God is proven wrong and they still go on... Why?? I guess because it's no longer a matter of proof. It must be because God is no longer "out there", it's "in here" *pointing to self* and a personal God cannot be proved wrong. Thus, God remains, and science in a way is denied - who knows.
I don't expect to understand creationists (I was once one, and I didn't even understand myself!) but I think that God really is a stumbling block himself, blinding you from the truth - hence my name.
