So, Mike, do you not not accept the letters of Paul as the inspired word of God?

Joralex ran away after page 4 when he figured out he can't logically answer any of the questions that others had for him.
Curse you, Lam! I'd almost forgotten that Joralex ever existed, and you reminded me!

The ladies are quite good at gossiping (better at it than men), thought thats why no apostles were ladies, and that only men are supposed to be pastors, I suppose though all there gossiping has kinda liberlised the churches(not a good thing), perhaps the ladies should be silent in the churches, and ask there husband if she has a question, etc...
P.S. Its about order too, like in the home who is the boss, the children, the wife, the husband. The bible makes it clear the man is the head of the house, spare the rod and spoil the child, in love, etc...I heard though where nuns in a catholic school maintained order by slapping fingers with a ruler(bet it was sanctioned by the priest)but it worked, it registered in the brain and maintained order. All this gooey stuff, sounds good, but nothing like a deserved spanking given in love, to register in junior's brain, to respect the husbands authority. When the child becomes boss, its chaos. When the wife respect's the husbands authority, the child respects his authority too(Dad can be scarry), should not children go to bed by 8 PM so the husband can have quiet times with his wife without junior ranting, about me myself and I. It appears at times junior is the boss, and the wife should get in line with the husband, unfortunately the social services will likely not see spankings as appropriate discipline (they want to disrupt the family), the child needs to know their place, and that they are loved, but its 8 P.M. and lights out, you had your day to play, and Daddy needs to relax with the wife, and discuss the days events, before turning in, etc...

Even though this is way off the original topic, it is yet another example of the "pick and choose" philosophy that drove me from religion in the first place....
I still see a stunning trend of the people who believe the bible is "perfect" and "incontrovertible" still find loopholes, and ways around blatant contradictions. I have never heard the "Living word" argument..That was funny. So can we assume that some scriptures are more or less important? Should we only read and follow only Jesus' words in the bible? Why or why not" Mike says "It may seem like picking and choosing what you want to hear. But in some cases we have no choice." You have no choice? Why? Also you said "Jesus said not to adhere to some things in the Old Testament anymore" What were these things, and why did he change his mind? Was the OT wrong if Jesus had to "edit" it's original message? Where is this scripture exactly, I would like to read it's context. Sorry, I am getting off topic from my own topic. So, to get back on topic, why can Joyce Meyer, or other female evanglests, preach and it not be disgraceful to the Lord? Clearly she has chosen to ignore 1 Corinthians 14. Why is she allowed, by God, to go against him, or the bible in such a way?

Hey Atos, in the future could you please click on the smaller reply button with the red arrow just so it would make it easier for people to know what post and who you are responding to?
Don't worry, I was the same when I first joined. Believe me, that reply to a specific person or post makes it a lot easier to read, especially on a big forum like this. The Laminator

Dan Carroll writes: And what's the deal with women drivers? Am I right, fellas? Yeah. I know of a lot of bad female drivers, however (at the risk of high-jacking this topic further), I know just as many bad male drivers and in this country they dominate by FAR. BY and large they drive mini-bus taxi's, many of which aren't anywhere near road worthy; things like pieces of cardboard for brake pads or a monkey wrench for a stearing wheel. Freedom, morality, and the human dignity of the individual consists precisely in this; that he does good not because he is forced to do so, but because he freely conceives it, wants it, and loves it. - Mikhail Bakunin, God and the State, from The Columbian Dictionary of Quotations

Ol' Joralex/Jorge is always on the 'net somewhere. He only has one tune to play, but he gets it to a large audience.....

Mike, since I am not a "bible basher" like you, I would like to hear what you have to say about what Jesus thought about homosexuality. Lam, in my year here at the forum I have made exactly one statement about homosexuality and it was to Crashfrog. Basically I deduce that there is nothing in the bible to suggest that it is out and out wrong. In Leviticus - it only mentions lust and "confusion". As for Jesus, I can't remember him saying anything about it. I choose not to be prejuduced against people or judge a particular attribute they have. Basically, I can only throw you an opinion about homosexuality because of the lack of input in scripture, which even then leaves me uncomfortable because I don't want to run the risk of judging people. So here goes: Basically, I have nothing against gay people, To me - you are equal and discrimination isn't my ball park. Steven Spielberg recently said - in an interview concerning the holocaust, that prejudice leads to such things as what the nazis did to the Jews. He said if we only accepted those we are "uncomfortable" with rather than persecuting them for being different to our own selves then the world would be better. Christ's message was to all, he would accept anyone because he came not to call the righteouss, but sinners to repentance. So basically, in my opinion, if all you were judged for in this life, was your "homosexuality" then you would be the former = righteouss. I.e. If your only being "yourself" makes you guilty of something, then we are all doomed. Don't forget, Christ also said "judge not lest you be judged". So, sorry to dissapoint you if you wanted a debate against what "those" bible-bashers might say. However, as you said - you won the debates because basically you are correct, there is nothing in the bible that can justify homophobia.

Mike, no many how many times I may want to smack you when we're arguing, you're still my kind of people.

Mike, to be honest, I wasn't looking for a debate with you on the matter. I know that my knowledge of the "living word" is very limited. If you said that all homos will go to hell or something like that, it would have taken me a while to catch up to you. Unlike Leviticus, the "living word" has caught me completely off guard. Can't say I can make a strong argument surrounding the "living word."

The theme is "Women and Religion". Let's return to it.
A short term topic closure is coming next. Adminnemooseus (using "signature" a lot, because it has the "start a new topic" info in it.)
