As for murderers, let's look at the bjs.gov website:
Recidivism and Reentry | Bureau of Justice Statistics
It was slightly higher than your 3%. It was almost 50%.
That page doesn't seem to mention murderers at all. Please be more specific. And use the proper Reply button.

Please explain how harsher penalties that rid us of recidivism, make criminals commit more crimes ...... logically please
Logic doesn't trump facts. If you have any facts that support your position, present them. Then we can use logic on those facts.

You are a vile little troll aren't you.
That depends on whether his stupidity is feigned or genuine.

...stupidity is feigned or genuine.
Exactly. I think Theodoric is being overly gracious with his insults.

Oh he's not totally stupid, he knows exactly how to wind everybody up hereabouts.
He's a pretty average troll, dropping in every couple of months, trailing rubby dubby and watching evrybody get all hot and bothered then buggering off for a while. It's just a question of who's the dumbest, us or him.

I am for the death penalty in theory, but this is why i'm against it in practice. Until we can be 100% sure that only guilty people are sentenced to death capital punishment should not be in use.

I agree.
I read a book recently (Philip Kerr, A Philosophical Investigation, I recommend it if you like that sort of thing) which included among its premises the idea that people convicted of murder would be put in a medically induced coma and then stashed in what was in effect a big warehouse. If they were later proved innocent, they could be taken out of the coma, if not then in effect it would be a death sentence, because although they would in fact die of old age, the last thing they would experience would be the needle that put them under. Would that meet the objection, or would we complain that the innocent man was still being deprived of all the joys that would go along with ... uh ... spending a decade in prison knowing that he was there unjustly?
Discuss.

Disagree.
Both the death penalty and the 'might-as-well-be-dead' penalty does not allow for forgiveness, change and redemption. It also brings the criminal justice system and the society that supports such extreme punitiveness down, to the level of the murderer.
I object to the death penalty on a subjective basis - it's abhorrent; it's convenient to know that the evidence shows that it's also not a deterrent.

put in a medically induced coma and then stashed in what was in effect a big warehouse.
What would be the state of such a person when he was freed? If he is indeed medically worse off that if he'd spent the time in prison, then how cruel is that?
And while the person might subjectively consider himself dead, that is not necessarily how the victim's family would feel about it if they were pro-death penalty.
Exactly who would this coma-death penalty satisfy?
