Not sure why anyone is still here. This thread is 1170 posts long and it is nothing more than Scott saying "I'm not delusional," and everyone else saying "um Yes you are."

ringo writes: The Bible says he does. You've been shown that. You're directly contradicting the Bible. If you believe that scripture says the Holy Spirit appeared as a dove, you are one of the few Christians that misinterpret that scripture. Scripture actually says; Mathew 3:16. When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.
This photograph shows the Spirit of God descending like a dove.

That must be a different genus of dove than the ones we have descending here in Texas.

That is an actual photograph of the Holy Spirit. As can be seen, He is far from a hallucination or a delusion.

Agreed. A crappy Photoshop, but neither a hallucination nor a delusion.

Faith writes: If some such experience should ever be truly frightening, however, may I suggest that you call on the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for help? I like you, Omni, I'm happy to find out how "mad" you are, I wish you well. Oh sure, that's fair: slice and dice my ideas for the length of your post, and then utterly disarm me. You may be sure that if I find myself face-to-face with the devil, I'll make the intuitive leap to God. I appreciate the spirit of your comment, and I'll try to respond with a civility as considerable as our differences. That's really the only point I want to make right now. I like you, too, Faith, which is why I often don't respond to your posts, or do so indirectly; it's also why you can make me angry: otherwise, why would I care? The daily reminders that billions of people share similar beliefs doesn't bother me at all--it puzzles me, but I'm not irritated by those anonymous people. I love religious people, it's the local preacher who drives me nuts. You know how that works. I understand that your faith must give rise to similar sentiments of consternation, as you fear damnation for folks whom you've come to know and like and who just don't seem to listen. I'd hazard to say you are well-liked here by most. I'm sure there are strenuous exceptions. They don't all love me, either.* We'd make a good case study of polar opposition masking foundational commonalities. Despite our profound differences of belief, we're of a generation and share all those cultural references, and, I suspect, some important life experiences. We're intellectually excitable; intensely serious about the importance of self-honesty and true speech. I value that passionate curousity--because that's what human curiousity is, a thirst for the truth-- most in myself, so I can hardly fail to respect it in you, even when we reach diametrically opposed positions. You can call it a thirst for God, and I won't mind. We both speak our minds and give offense, sometimes dismissively. My verbal censors began falling long ago and were finally pulverized by age and literal hard knocks, even after post-traumatic cognitive therapy to reacquire some reserve, which as you can see didn't work and I see only the ruins of yours. So for now, on the issues, I'll simply say that what makes my theory better than yours is evidence. I liked reading a post from you that was written as though I were an honest, serious person. During strong debate, it's easy to lose sight of those qualities in another, and I sometimes do. So thanks for the sentiment and the civility. I'll try to keep both in mind. _______________________________________________________*Everybody Loves Me Baby (What's the matter with you?) Both good and evil spirits travel in these chariots. Psalm 68:17. The chariots of God are twenty thousands, Even thousands of thousands. The Lord is among them as in Sinai, in the Holy Place.
Not sure what you think this proves about your mental state. I worked in mental health for years and I think you're beyond delusional but the point of my post was the total uselessness of this horrendously long thread. It ALL boils down to you claiming you're not delusional and everyone else disagreeing with you. This thread could have been done in less than 100 posts. I won't be posting again in this thread because it is useless.

You having worked in the mental health field along side a bunch of quack psychiatrists means nothing. I would suggest that you look into their history. These are the same caring physicians that would kill patients drilling holes in their heads trying to release evil spirits. Evil spirits are not in a person's head. This shows how much they knew. Studies only "suggest" that psychosis is a brain disorder. This has not been proven. It has been known for thousands of years to be the devils which have driven a person mad. Today, some countries still teach this truth and some US psychiatrists will inform their patients that they may have the devil in their lives. These physicians have attempted to cover up their trail of errors over the years by changing the word madness to insanity and now to psychosis. You are speaking of a field of medicine which has a long history of inhuman treatment of patients and gross errors such as excessive drug treatment, excessive shock therapy and frontal lobotomies. These are the quack doctors of which you have acquired your knowledge from and put your faith in.

Yes, on both accounts. I have never hallucinated in my entire life. And I have never had a mental problem. How would you know? Did you ever get yourself checked? You're telling us things everyone think it's false, it maybe a sign of a problem man...
Now you can answer my question...do you think it wise not to believe in God?
Reading problems? I answered that question. The default position is to not believe unless we have good evidence. You haven't provided it. And as dwise1 said... which god? Humans have created a lot of them.

You put your faith and trust in a bunch of quacks. History has already proven this to be true. Studies only "suggest" a brain disorder. The brain disorder is more likely brain damage do to drug abuse which is a sin that brings evil spirits into one's life. Many Christians bear witness to this truth. Insanity is believing the lies of the devil. It has been known for thousands of years to be the devils to drive a person mad. You can find this in the scripture with people foaming at the mouth having been driven mad by a demon. Most cases are not this severe. My brain has never caused me to hear or see anything that was not there. You people fall way short of understanding spiritual reality. If you insist on believing the lies of this world you will die in your sins.

Actually, it would be contemporary doctors' intellectual ancestors who drilled holes in heads. Yours were probably stealing someone else's land and hunting witches. I'd like to assure you that doctors also no longer apply leeches or bleed you for every common malady. They've moved further into the future than you have. Wait for me, Asgara!
