Why does my signature not display under my posts?
Edited by AdminModulous, : checked the box....

Did you check the Show Signature check box underneath your message underneath Disable Smilies in This Post?

I have never even seen that option. Thank you. However, why is it displayed in the OP then? That is the first post of mine in which it was displayed.
Anywho, thanks again.

Check out the small blue text under the main text of the OP: I edited it to make sure your signature worked

More importantly, how can one view the forum without having to read posters' tiresome signatures time, and time, and time again?
IOW, is there a "disable signatures" option?

Interesting request, and probably not too difficult. How do people feel about people being able to turn off signature display so they don't have to look at your carefully thought out and composed signatures?

Hmm, good idea I guess. I like them, gives every post that extra personal bit. And I usually don't read them more then once anyway. But I can imagine it would be a nice option to turn it off.

I hunt for the truth
I am the one Orgasmatron, the outstretched grasping hand
My image is of agony, my servants rape the land
Obsequious and arrogant, clandestine and vain

Hypocrisy made paramount, paranoia the law
My name is called religion, sadistic, sacred whore.

Sounds like a fair enough option to me. (But I don't really use signatures, so my thoughts may be biased).
I would prefer if the default for the option would be "Signatures On."
While we're talking about easy, possible additions, I have a suggestion:
The top of each page has a line of links where you show the current thread's path (eg. EvC Forum => All Forums => Board Administration => Suggestions and Questions => Signatures).
For me, it would be handy if this line of links were copied at the bottom of each page as well. I often read posts to the bottom of the page, then want to go back to whatever forum section I was looking at and need to scroll up to the top to click on the link.
Not really a big deal, but I'm lazy and scrolling back to the top can take upwards of 3 seconds
Edited by Stile, : Added my possible bias

I never read sigs so I would be happy to turn them off.

Press the "HOME" key, lazy bum!

Heh.
Thanks for that, much appreciated, works like a charm.
I still wouldn't mind if the suggestion I made was implemented, but using the HOME key certainly does work rather well.

Folks could change their signature once in a while, to make it more interesting.
And--signatures should be limited to a line or two. A paragraph or three is way too much!

How about self-restraint in displaying you signature?
Hmm, good idea I guess. I like them, gives every post that extra personal bit. And I usually don't read them more then once anyway. But I can imagine it would be a nice option to turn it off.
I have a rather lengthy list of quotations in my signature. Since the Obama election, I did eliminate one that was Bush/Cheney specific, but I did add another one in its place.
Now I don't post very many messages as Minnemooseus - Typically I post about one every few days. I also have the signature in the size=1 text size so that it is less prominent. Lastly, I deliberately don't activate the signature most of the time - I just sprinkle in into my messages occasionally.
My Adminnemooseus signature is quite bulky, but its content is a number of links and a long quotation intended to be moderation guidance and information. But I still often choose to not display that signature.

Re: How about self-restraint in displaying you signature?
I usually switch on my signature because this forum proves, time and again, that ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science.
