I've been looking really studiously, but I can't seem to find an aspect of this research project that isn't completely cool.
(I apologise to the younger members for the possibly embarrassing use of the word 'cool'.)

new member?
Hi Panda, and welcome to the fray.
I've been looking really studiously, but I can't seem to find an aspect of this research project that isn't completely cool.
So have you joined Team EvC? (see Message 1)
I like the screen saver graphics, especially late at night when I wake up - some can be mesmerizing.

The ULTIMATE thread necromancy?
Hi all,
Not sure if there will be much appetite for this, but I thought it would be worth a try. I realised that I am currently the only person still running World Community Grid as part of "Team EVC"!
I wondered if anyone who has joined in the last 11 years (or any old stagers!) would be interested in joining the team and shoring up our numbers, which aren't looking too hot. Looking back over this thread Team EVC were in the top 500 for some metric or other at one point, but not any more.
If you aren't familiar with World Community Grid, it is a distributed computing system that uses your computer's "wasted" idle processing time to do good stuff - fold proteins, cure cancer, that kind of thing.
Here endeth the message!
(And if this doesn't bump the thread back up to the top so people can see it I will feel very silly)
World Community Grid
Team name = Team EVC
Let's go back to the top, people!

Re: The ULTIMATE thread necromancy?
I completely respect that; to each their own. The only possible counter I would offer is that you might go green to know how much your privacy is (likely) already being compromised by various means - cookies, Facebook, etc...
... although you may be taking very active measures to avoid this as much as humanly possible; in which case you are being consistently paranoid in avoiding distributed computing, and I respect that!

Re: The ULTIMATE thread necromancy?
Ha ha, amazing! I only really lurk here now, and then very occasionally, but I have always felt part of "Team EVC" because of World Community Grid, and I really appreciate having you there too... but I hope you didn't leave a cooler team!

It was a team I started called Single Serve Coffee. But almost all it's members also wandered away. I've got a little over 56 years of contribution but don't know if that transfers over.
