why not? besides. why does god have to be christian anyways?
It doesnt, unless your basing it on the God of the Bible. Which so many people do as its really the Bible vs Evolution. The Bible has its own forum here and its creation of the Bible vs evolution. But anyway no you can have your own God weather it be in your head or a religous textbook that says in the beginning life evolved by me.

um. i'd refer you to someone who has done some small research into differing views on that among jewish tradition... you know... the people who first owned the book... but you probably wouldn't care.
In the Hebrew Bible. Day meant a literal day.

In the Hebrew Bible. Day meant a literal day.
Not according to Jewish or Catholic or Eastern Orthodox interpretation, not just modern, but going back centuries to at least Augustine, or probably even Hillel (a Jewish person more familiar with should comment on this).
This notion of interpreting Genesis literally is really a late-modern era fundamentalist Protestant position unsupported by historical principles of exegesis.
When I hear fudamentalists refer to themseleves as "Bible-believing", I have to laugh. You can't believe what you don't understand.

whether a day meant a day or not it doesn't matter. don't put words in my mouth or assume my arguments.
the point is, there is a very common jewish tradition of interpretation in which it took god a day to EXPLAIN to moses HOW he made the world.
but you would be wrong in making assumptions about 'the hebrew bible' since you are not jewish, and the people you get your information from are misinformed.

perhaps you'd better check your history sir, because the translators of the LXX (by the way, they were Jewish scholars who knew their Hebrew and their Greek) translated the word day as (excuse my transliteration) meaning day.
Yes it could mean a figurative day ie, the day of the Lord (actually a seven year period, however, when modified by the words ‘‘ (evening) and (morning) it NEVER meant anything but a literal day
