Why with having so many intellectuals on this board do you feel the need to discuss these topics amongst yourselves, the converted, and dare not go to the Xian sites to "convert" those?

Actually, several members of this board used to go to the boards at Christians Unite. However, they recently closed the evolution/creation board on the grounds that it was not in line with their goals.
Is there a site you'd reccomend? Preferably one where they already discuss evolution/creation. I don't think anyone here would want to barge in on someone else's board and start spamming them with irrelevant posts.

You mean evangelize evolution?
Hotbeds of evolution/creation debates can be found at Rapture Ready and Theology Web. I've heard some stuff about Baptist Board, but have not seen it for myself.

I got banned from Christians Unite because I suggested that Jesus was gay. I actually made quite a sound case as well, but they weren't having it.
Atheists are not really evangelical, you don't really find us doing the missionary stuff, we usually wait until the Christians come to us, which always happens. The Christians are charged to preach the Gospel, we just deconstruct it when they pop in. It isn't a case of being afraid to go to Christian sites, it is more often than not just a waste of time. I am involved in a quite a few private debates by e-mail, which I find more profitable as the discussion doesn't go off on tangents. Plus, the people I am involved in these debates with are well qualified to talk about the subjects and do not take anything personally and go off in a huff. Anyway, it is not possible to 'convert' a Christian, they readily admit that nothing anyone says will ever make them doubt their faith, so what is the point? Brian.

Whatta day! Two wonderfully humorous mental images to giggle about.
First, a troop of 13 scroll-thumping militants hiking back and forth across Sumeria and Judea with a humongous reference library stuffed into backpacks and donkey carts ... And now, street-corner preachers with sandwich boards proclaiming "The Evolution of the World is Continuing" or "Rejoice! Evolution is At Hand!" [This message has been edited by Abshalom, 12-10-2003]

Aside from the fact that several posters do post to Christian-run forums, I'd also add that evolution doesn't need to be evangelized in the way Christianity is since the major elements of evolutionary theory are deduced from presently-observable objective evidence. If everyone on earth had their memory and knowledge of evolutionary theory erased today, they could still begin from scratch looking at the evidence and conclude that evolution has taken and does take place. Why with having so many intellectuals on this board do you feel the need to discuss these topics amongst yourselves, the converted, and dare not go to the Xian sites to "convert" those? I don't think this is the case with Christianity. Christianity instead relies on the continual propogation of its tenents through evangelizing. There is no objective evidence of Christianity's God's existence, nor special creation, nor Christ's supposed resurrection, etc... For most people, the idea of going around spreading the truth that evolution happens is about as ridiculous as the idea of going around spreading the truth that the sky is blue or the world is round. In other words, the truth is plain to the people who take the time to look at it without clinging to their preconceived notions.

It seems to me that the xians are pushing there views into our places of education with little or no resistance from the atheist/evolutionist. If this is left to happen then the truth, as we see it, will be ripped out of the classrooms. Creationism will become the order of the day.
We sit back and let this happen without doing anything, and there may come a time when it is too late. I come from the UK and I am thankful we do not have a prime minister like your president. Our prime minister may be a lap dog but he does not follow the faith like your president does. It is disconcerting to me that Atheists/Evolutionists are such loners. We may not need a group of people around us to bolster our convictions but our single voices are being ignored. Xianity has one voice saying the same thing, where as we have lots of voices but they are in the dark. Most Atheist/Evo sites have a brave xian come on once in a while and run off about god. So why don't evo's reciprocate but do it in numbers. a group go to the xian site, like AiG, and tear down the lies they portray as the truth. I personally am getting sick to the back teeth of some xian coming on to a thread and posting the same guff about "Darwin recanting on his deathbed" and the other stupid things they post to back up their claims. I just wondered if it was time to fight back before their foothold gets to big.

Hi Bobby.
As you are from the UK you should know that creationism does not have the same rabid follwing here as it does in the USA. Ken Ham came over here a few years ago and he was essentially laughed at by the UK audiences, he even wrote an article condeming UK Christians! The young earth is also not a problem in the UK, maybe it is becasue that USA is so big that they appear to have more than their fair share of fringe lunatics shouting about a 6000 year old earth and creation should be taught in science classes, but it is not a problem in the UK. Brian.

Brian, not a problem at the moment. I am new to the athe/evo debates and I was just wondering why more isn't done to push evo's side of the argument across. Why evo's just seem to sit back and let things go. Why they dont "invade" the creo sites and give what the creo's give when they come to evo sites.
It looks like the creo's have more backbone than the evo's.

Hi,
It isn't really as easy as that. You have to remember that the site owner has the power, they can ban you and delete your posts, they can even check your post before it goes on their site. I used to fire off e-mails to many sites informing them of falsehoods on thier sites, but trust me they nearly all end up in a preaching session. I wouldn't say that creo's have more backbone, they just don't get embarrassed very easily. There are many examples on this forum of creos simply running away when faced with concrete contrary evidence. I agree with you that their arguments get tiring, the Darwin example you gave is a very common one. What confuses me is how people even come to believe this anyway, it is the total lack of any research skills of most creationists that I am astounded at. If I can find out what is wrong with all of their arguments then surely they can before they post them. I would be happy to be part of a 'website review squad' targetting certain creo websites one at a time, but it really wouldn't change a thing, they don't listen and they seem incapable of accepting reality. If you want to try it, to prove my point then I will give it a go with you. I dare say a few others might fancy a bit of evangelising, but all it will result in will be accusations of demonic possession! What you have to remember is that we might actually reinforce these peoples' beliefs. They have been indoctrinated to think that persecution is a prophecy, there will come mockers, to their warped minds any criticism of their faith is a fulfillment of prophecy. Sad or what? Brian.

Actually, if you go to an school board meeting where they are discussing adding creation or ID to the science curriculum, you would see that 'evolutionists' do indeed have a backbone.
Nothing gets us more motivated than having creationism shoved down our kids' throats.

We Americans love entertainment ... in any form. Street preachers, tent revivals, "reality" TV, televangelists, Dollywood, the Schwartenegger election, City Confidential, Pulp Fiction, Nilli Vanilli, the Knighting of Sir Jagger, hey, we love it all! Don't fret, Bobby, just remember ... the Truth shall set you free.
