An artist. A true artist. What kind of guitar do you use? Love your enemies!

Jon asks:
What kind of guitar do you use? It's something called a Lotus. Made in Korea. Musta bought a Martin and taken it back and cloned it. Internet had 6 reviews. The only common factor was "DURABILITY", which I, the 7th reviewer can attest to. I actually walked across it next the campfire, foot full planted on its top near the soundhole. I had it fall out of the chair next to me and hit the cement floor at the Cantab Lounge and nothing happened to it. I have it fall over at a Dylanfest, in the back room - again nothing. I have dropped it several times. It is fine. Imagine what horrors I would be living under if it was a $3003 guitar!!!! No - for a 10th of the price, I have the right guitar. - xongsmith, 5.7d

Whoa. That's nice. I put together different videos of songs into YouTube playlists to listen to at work. Lots of Grateful Dead, Fleetwood Mac, Beatles, The Eagles and like that. I've added this one to the mix. You got more?

That's what I thought - that it's an Asian knockoff. These knockoffs all have a certain look to them. They are also absolutely amazing guitars. I have a Ventura V-6 (maybe mid-80s) which is meant to be a replica of a higher-end name. It is also made in Asia (Japan, maybe - that's what the label says). Of the guitars I've played with, I like the Ventura the best. It is mellow and bassy and the high strings aren't so tinny and piercing like on most guitars (even the spendy ones). The heel's separating from the body and it has the belly of a puffer fish, but I'll play it till just before it snaps in two, then I'll unstring it and put it away (since it has sentimental value too). What motivates you to write the songs you write? I really like music with somber tones but upbeat rhythm; I notice you have several songs like this (I can't remember the names because I just let the lists play on). Love your enemies!

Free As A Bird
Just got to come back to this. Thin Air's rendition of "Free As a Bird" is nothing short of perfection in my opinion. I keep listening to it like an addict. All the other versions at You Tube are nothing by comparison, sloppy, blurry, miss the pathos. ThinAir nails it. Words for his: clean, crisp, haunting, beautiful, perfect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TDTPUO-rsQ

very nice
Hey Xong, Very nice set of songs/videos. Nice voice, very enjoyable. Cool! Thanks for sharing. You are similar to my brother's style of vocals and guitar. When he comes into town we get our guitars out and play. We'll usually do a medley of Aztec-Two-step songs in your style: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5dDWCK5grM We aren't quite as smooth as Aztec though. Sometimes we'll record a basic track with vocals and guitars and then add harmonies, bass and percussion later. (Alas, I wish I was a better singer, sigh).

Thanks to all for the kind words. Wow. If only I could write songs as xongsmith does. Here's one that was written by a friend of mine about Petr Ginz. I produced (if you can call it that) played and sang with her. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLdcrut1oiA And short Alan Parsons tune https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78-dWTBFy0g JB Edited by ThinAirDesigns, : No reason given.
