Hi everybody,
Many unique cultures, and nations, reserve this time of year to celebrate a harvest festival in some form and today is Thanksgiving in the United States. My intention here isn't to impress or even inspire you, but rather simply, to offer up a thankful spirit. Thank you for everything ladies and gentlemen, and especially your patience.
I appreciate the time and effort many put forth in our discussions here; it inspires me to continue learning. I appreciate the time and resources Percy continuously expends to make this small community of ours possible; I'm inspired to accomodate the strangers I encounter who may benefit - if even in some small way, from something I'm in a position to do for them.
I hope and pray you all have a bless'd and safe harvest fest with your family, friends as well as the stranger among you.
Thanks again everyone ..
One Love

I'm not here to mock or condemn what you believe, tho my intentions are no less than to tickle your thinker.
If those in first century CE had known what these words mean ... 'I want and desire mercy, not sacrifice'
They surely would not have murdered the innocent; why trust what I say, when you can learn for yourself?
Think for yourself.
Mercy Trumps Judgement,
Love Weary

Very kind of you.
All the best.

The above ontological example models the zero premise to BB theory. It does so by applying the relative uniformity assumption that the alleged zero event eventually ontologically progressed from the compressed alleged sub-microscopic chaos to bloom/expand into all of the present observable order, more than it models the Biblical record evidence for the existence of Jehovah, the maximal Biblical god designer.

Moreover that view is a blatantly anti-relativistic one. I'm rather inclined to think that space being relative to time and time relative to location should make such a naive hankering to pin-point an ultimate origin of anything, an aspiration that is not even wrong.
Well, Larni, let's say I much better know what I don't want to say than how exactly say what I do.

Happy Thanksgiving to all
But for the non Americans among us what is the root of this holiday i know it has something to do with with native Americans helping out the first guys who came to America during winter but not sure about the whole story.

Thanks Be To God!
As per the first thanksgiving, thanks be to Jehovah, god, from whom all blessings flow, for us particularly in this blessed land of the free and home of the brave.

May God save us from Pilgrims
May God save us from ever being subjugated by fanatics like the Pilgrims ever again.

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Didn't the Natives give them food and the Pilgrims gave them smallpox?

I'm not sure if this story is actually true. I had a quick look on wikipedia, but it's a bit vague and the sources offered are all print books so not availble to check for more details. Thanksgiving is probably connected to the harvest festivals people held in Europe, to give thanks for a successful harvest.

Actually, by the time the Pilgrims got to Plymouth area the natives were pretty much already wiped out by European diseases. The only reason they were able to settle permanently is because they arrived during a power and population vacuum among the natives.
The whole idea of a feast of Thanksgiving originating with Pilgrims is bunk. All they had was a harvest festival. The first official Thanksgiving celebration was partly instituted to to commemorate recent victories over the heathen natives.

Re: Thanks Be To God!
As per the first thanksgiving,
Can you tell us when that was? Please provide some historical references.
