The same here. In my native language Christmas is called Kersfees. Literally translated Candle festival. The tradition comes from the winter solstice in the far north of the northern hemisphere where they don't get much sunlight this time of year. They used a lot of candles and celebrated the effect that the days will get longer from then on. The word Christmas is Anglo-centric.

Sunrise today at 10:14. Sunset today at 14:08. Length of day is 3 h 54 min.
Days are quite short Candles and lights alleviate that a lot...

Where I live sunrise was at 5:09 this morning and sunset will be at 18:52. The temperature was 21 Degrees C when I woke up at around 4 am and was 35 degrees C at 12. Yet, the normal thing done around here this time of year would be guys in hot Santa Clause suits trying to force parents to buy Xmas presents to children...while the fake snow flakes are falling around them in the malls with air-con...in 25 degrees Celsius heat.

I cannot understand how anything in your post is related to what I've said.

Christmas is a Federal and cultural holiday.
Those who want to view it with their own religious significance are free to do so.

This is a bad example. The 'kers' in 'kersfees' doesn't originally come from 'kers'. It's derived from 'Kerst' - and in Dutch they still sometimes call it 'Kerstfeest'. So it does tie back to Christ, even if that isn't how Afrikaaners interpret the word today.

Sorry if I misunderstood you but to me you seemed to imply that the Christian reason for Xmas was the original and everything trying to not succumb to that is loathable multiculturalism.
IMO war on xmas is a totally made-up cause for butthurt Americans to be able to portray themselves as martyrs.

Have A Ho Ho Holy Christmas!

Does'nt "Holiday" originally mean Holy Day? If so, a federal holy day would exist in a secular government. What good is "holiness" without someone or something to attribute the "holy" to?

Our superhero, SpareChangeMan, keeps Christ in everyday life---theoretically, by spreading his excess jingle. Hopefully society will repay him by providing needed socialist funds for his someday retirement.

"Remember the Sabbath, to keep it holy" = "Don't work on the Sabbath"
The Sabbath is "holy" because even God can't work 24-7. In that sense, we're putting God into the Sabbath. But it's also common sense.
Similarly, the Winter Solstice is a sign that the sun will come back, life will go on. It reminds us to look at the long term instead of focusing on short-term woes. If that isn't "attribution" enough for you, feel free to spackle on a coat of "Christ".

I see more complaining from non-Christians about Christians bitching about the war on Christmas than I actually see Christians bitching about the war on Christmas.

Nobody said you can't say "Merry Christmas."
What they said was that you shouldn't say Merry Christmas because the person you're saying it to might not be a Christian, not celebrate Christmas, and instead celebrate something else. Saying Merry Christmas could indicate to them that you just assumed that they did celebrate it and probably are a Christian, and that could offend them and/or marginalizes their faith or something, so instead you should use something benign like "Happy Holidays".
Woo-hoo, we're PC bro!

It used to mean that but not any more.

Well, I still get paid to not show up to work.
