For those thinking that this was over, even for a short break...

And not where we might have expected to see this kind of utter non-sense. Florida of all places.
Dated 11-20-2007
LAKELAND | A majority of Polk County School Board members say they support teaching intelligent design in addition to evolution in public schools.. . .
"If it ever comes to the board for a vote, I will vote against the teaching of evolution as part of the science curriculum," Lofton said. "If (evolution) is taught, I would want to balance it with the fact that we may live in a universe created by a supreme being as well."
Not even smart enough to play the usual game of disguise and obfuscate.

The scary part is one of the few board members against teaching ID in school, actually believes in ID and is only saying no because of the law. How do people get on school boards again?

Greed reigns.
It is easy to understand the Front Line Christian groups supporting ID and Biblical Creationism, after all that is where the money is. It is a simple case of Biblical Christianity being about the easiest way to get rich as long as you can maintaining the pool of ignorant gullible folk ready and willing to send in the dollars to pay for the public clowns known as Televangelists and Creation Scientists.
Really, that is it. It's about MONEY and how to get the money from the suckers pockets (and now from the tax coffers as well) into the pockets of the leaders and snake oil salesmen. If they can open the cash flow stream to siphon off even more tax dollars, they can get even richer.
There is little money anymore in being a mime, or juggler, or even magician, but being a Creation Scientist, now there is a profession that will warm the cockles of any mercenary heart.
Today the key is in niche marketing. The general field of Faith Healer and Demagogue is pretty crowded and competition for the suckers' dollars is fierce so looking for new revenue streams is a reasonable tactic, and what better revenue stream than public education, one of the largest tax revenue sources available. If they can duplicate the financial success of the Faith Based Initiative tax revenue grab they will be thrilled. And potentially, the education revenue stream will dwarf that of the Faith Based Initiatives.
Faith Driven Ignorance is a Growth Industry.

I wonder if this time Bush will act like an idiot like last time and publically support ID.

Owing to the deficiency of the English language, I have occasionally used the academic jargon generator to produce phrases that even I don't fully understand. The jargons are not meant to offend anyone or to insult anyone's intelligence!

He hasn't read any new books since then, I would imagine. So I would guess he will probably flap his gums.

Well, if you've ever been to Polk County then you would have seen this coming miles away.
I lived in Lakeland for a short time (my GF was going to college there and I moved there to save some money and be closer to her) and I literally thought I had stepped into a time warp. It was not pretty.

"You are metaphysicians. You can prove anything by metaphysics; and having done so, every metaphysician can prove every other metaphysician wrong--to his own satisfaction. You are anarchists in the realm of thought. And you are mad cosmos-makers. Each of you dwells in a cosmos of his own making, created out of his own fancies and desires. You do not know the real world in which you live, and your thinking has no place in the real world except in so far as it is phenomena of mental aberration." -The Iron Heel by Jack London
