Is it moral to allow a child to be born with a genetic defect that would result in the child dying at an early age or having a relay tough life when a cure is available? ( i know we are not 100% there yet though we will be soon)
Is it moral to let millions starve when we can already make genetically modified crops that can thrive in hostile climates are resistant to pests .....
Is it moral to improve the "design" of humans further? (smarter....)
And would it still be moral to improve the human "design" if the method is only available to the rich?
One specific Question for theists
Is it moral to ignore the problems above (food, genetic defects) that could be solved by genetic engineering just so we do not fine tune gods perfect design?

Needs Work
If you want this topic promoted, you need to provide your position concerning the topic issue.
The topic idea has potential and not necessarily from a religious standpoint. Try writing a better OP. Lay your position on the line for others to agree or disagree with.
Work on the title also. Since you bring up GMO, you are talking about more than just genetic engineering on humans
Thanks
AdminPD

Re: Needs Work
My position on genetic engineering is that it is a very valuable tool to improve the quality of living for all people, as long it is used in a way that it is accessible to all, because in my opinion a problem would arise if only a selected few say the rich 5% of the population would be able to genetically enhance themselves they could become the future monarchy of the world where normals would not be intelligent, fit or good enough to ever challenge their rule.
But even do to the potential dangers of genetic engineering i believe the good outweighs the risks, pest resistant crops that grow in any environment could end the hunger in Africa, children born with genetic flaws that now make their life miserable could be a thing of the past, and perhaps augmented children could regularly outsmart the grates of minds that our race has produced thus far.

Re: Needs Work
Please rewrite the OP to present your position and the questions you asked.
Redo the title. You're talking about more than just engineering on humans.
Are you talking about stuff that is actually accessible now or future problems? Please make that clear.
I don't understand why you pointed one question in the OP at theists as opposed to anyone else who might oppose genetic engineering.
Still needs work. Be consistent.

Re: Needs Work
Are you going to rework this into a single OP I can promote or have you given up?
Thanks
